Hi there, Canucks fan here.

What’s the cost to acquire Jokiharju? I don’t think you’d want to part ways with him, as he’s a young budding star in the making (at least that’s my personal opinion) But what’s his value?

Also, what’s up with Asplund and Luukkonen? Are they gonna be able to make the jump next year and play in the NHL?

As for Cozens... do you want to “rush” him to the NHL, or is another season in juniors a better option?

Thanks in advance! :)

Jokijarju is really, really good. The Sabres would probably want a young, top 6F for him. A lot of Sabres fans won't want to trade him, but we need help on offense so I would. We fell in love with Risto after year 2 as well and he just never turned into the #1 stud we all had hoped for.

If Vancouver wants Jokiharju it will likely cost you JT Miller and Rathbone. Even that might not be good enough, like has been said we’re not really looking to move him.

A lot more than you want to pay. He was untouchable to Botterill and I hope thats something that Adams inherited. Also UPL had hip surgery, hes being eased into the pro game slowly, plus theirs been a bit of a log jam at Goalie in the minors anyway

Joki for Brock Boeser always seemed fair to me.

I'd say value wise Boeser or equivalent. But you are right, we have 0 interest in trading him.

Also, what’s up with Asplund and Luukkonen? Are they gonna be able to make the jump next year and play in the NHL?

Asplund should be ready for 4th line duties. He was NHL ready last season but just didn't get much playing time. His ceiling is probably a 25-30 point bottom 6 PK specialist. UPL hopefully will take another 2 years to reach the NHL, don't wanna rush him at all. To me I see him as a legit starting goalie in the next 3-4 years. He's got all the tools but will take time.

As for Cozens... do you want to “rush” him to the NHL, or is another season in juniors a better option?

Depends on what the NHL situation is. If the WHL season starts before the NHL reg season then start him there so at least he's playing. As soon as the NHL regular season starts though he is 100% on the Sabres roster. He is very NHL ready but I would desire him playing either 2nd line RW with minimal center responsibility or as 3rd line center with 2 reliable and steady wingers. He is gonna be a beast.

Thanks in advance! smile

----I think it's just a non-starter. He's too good and has too much promise when we've struggled to have quality players in our system for too long.

Also, what’s up with Asplund and Luukkonen? Are they gonna be able to make the jump next year and play in the NHL?
----I think Asplund is on the 4th line this season provided we do the "smart" thing and let all the UFAs from our roster go. The Girgensons, Vesey, Larsson, etc. type players haven't served us well. Every ACGM I do has our 4th line be Asplund, Lazar and Okposo. Unless we get other quality depth that beats him out of a spot in which case he's probably with the team as a rotational player based on injuries etc. UPL had the surgery etc. Dominated Finnish juniors two years ago, OHL last year and ECHL this year. Probably given next year to "carry the load" in the AHL and then I want to see him as our backup goalie at most for a season before he takes control of the starting job in the NHL. Ryan Miller after being drafted played 3 seasons at college, 3 in the AHL as a starter (last one was the lockout year but still), then split the net for a season in the NHL before he played 60 games. I have no issue following a slow timeline for a goalie when he's gonna hold down your net for a decade after that. We also have Johansson who was an AHL all-star this season and Portillo who was phenomenal in the USHL this season and is going to Big Blue next year so there's other goalies that can develop and be useful to us before we need to push UPL into the NHL too fast.

As for Cozens... do you want to “rush” him to the NHL, or is another season in juniors a better option?
Cozens is NHL ready. 84 pts in 68 games last year and 85 in 51 this year plus handled all the important minutes at WJC for Canada. He won't benefit from playing in the WHL against 16 year olds for another season and the terrible NHL-CHL agreement means we can't send him to Rochester so he's up with the big club no questions asked. Ideally not as our 2C but with the correct linemates maybe... I'm intrigued about playing him at 1RW with Eichel and Skinner because of the space he will have while teams focus on those two and because he's really responsible defensively and that takes pressure off Eichel and Skinner and lets them take more chances. We would also need to get a 2C to play with Reinhart and Olofsson. That's just my personal opinion from my seats in 318 that doesn't get a lot of agreements on this website lol
