Offensively, the skill is there; I’d hope a coaching retool can fix our PP and lackluster 5x5 play at times. I’d give Sprong a shot on that third line where Eller and PAnik can mask his defensive shortcomings; McMichael could also be an option there at RW.

Defensively, we cant afford to bring Dillon back, nor should we given the young talent we have at LHD. I’ve bit the bullet on Kempny and bought him out; doubt anyone is trading for his contract in a flat cap year at a position with plenty of options.

I’ve tried to shore up the right side by bringing in DeMelo and swapping draft busts with Dallas in Johnasen for Honka, who can hopefully push Jensen and provide depth on that side if anyone gets hurt. Alexeyev (or Nardella?) is waiting in the wings in Hershey should another LHD need to be brought up; this could also be a spot where we add depth at the deadline if need be.

In goal, I’m rolling with Samsonov and whoever wins the preseason battle between Vanacek and Copley. If depth in goal becomes an issue, make a trade for a vet goalie.
