Description
No one really knows what's gonna happen but if I had to guess it'll be something LIKE this. Trades may be with different teams or with different returns. But this in general what I image next year will look like.

Also, Todd is NOT head coach. I don't know who is, but not him.

You know it is inevitable on CF that when any team loses in the playoffs, especially somewhat older ones (or at least ones that have 1 old star play, don't bother checking to see that the rest of the team is well under 30) there will be ~10 trillion posts saying "BlOw Up ThE wHoLe TeAm, WiNdOw Is ClOsEd" then proceed to sell off any relevant player for 1/10th their value

Doesn't matter, just joking about how overreactionary 99.9% of CF is

1/2 of their top 6 is 33 or over next season....not 1 player.

As for this mess. trading Panik just to bring in 35 year old Perry isn't going to help the team.

This doesn't help the bottom 6 scoring either...actually makes it worse. Having only 3 players score in a playoff season needs to be addressed

If trading someone, need to trade Hags, not Panik. And bring in someone like "Jesper Fast" type player for the third line and a "Derek Grant" type solid 4th line versatile player. Or a "Tobias Rieder" type player would be a great add who is cheap and dominate on the penalty kill.

I like signing Khudobin, but for that term, you could get him in the 2.75M range I think.

Thanks for not blowing up the whole team, as everyone wants to do.

It helps for the salary cap. With the expectation of a flat salary cap for a few more years, the Caps need as much space as they can get. Panik and Perry and essentially the same player, but you can get Perry cheaper. Panik under preformed and costs too much to have him stick around

I looked at Fast, but I ultimately think he'll re-sign the Rangers or another playoff team

And Hags doesn't cost too much? He is great at killing penalties, and is fast, but paying him $2.75M is too much to have him stick around. So trade Hags and sign Perry? Perry would be an upgrade offensively compared to Hags. Panik has more of a ceiling than Hags and is younger

I disagree Hags brings speed and good PK play. I think Hags is more worthwhile than Panik. Hags may not stay for the entirety of his contract, but I think he stays for now. Plus, Panik under-preformed all year. He was supposed to bring 3rd line scoring and he never did.

You can get speed and good PK play for much less than $2.75M (i.e. Tobias Rieder $800,000 a year).
I agree Panik under-performed the majority of the season, but he has a much better chance at providing that much needed depth scoring than Hags. And after this past series, that is necessary. I guess we can agree to disagree here, but I wouldn't be surprised if either Hags and Panik get moved.
