Honestly, I don't think the Devils should trade for Gaudreau but since it seems Flames fans think he's going to get traded, he's my take.

There has got to be at least one blue chip asset going to Calgary. These are three good pieces, but think the 7th overall would have to be there. Maybe 7oa + Gusev if Goose had another year or two on his contract.

Would probably cost Bratt + 7oa instead of Gusev and the VAN pick, which I would NJD fans would like.

I would rather try to extend Gusev for less than the 6.75m Gaudreau is making.

Gusev has one year left and if he doesn't want to resign in NJ, trading him for Gaudreau (who would take his place) would probably be the best case if we were to trade for him. But I could see what you mean by this being an overpayment. The Devils could trade Arizona's first Instead of Vancouver's first and Boqvist

Gusev really isn't that enticing, Flames can definitely get a better package with probably a really good center prospect. Trading Gaudreau incentives a rebuild so trading for a Goose has no logic

Yeah I typed that too fast....meant NJD fans would NOT like to part with Bratt or 7oa. And they shouldn't.

But if Gaudreau makes the open market, that is type of return NJD would likely need to top.

Probably. I can see other teams like the Flyers giving way more for Gaudreau.
