Don't disagree there. Could throw in a later 1st in place of the 3rd.

Lehner signing was supposed to be 3 years, no idea why it changed to 1.

You think CGY contacts 30 GMs about Gaudreau being available and that is their best return?

How about you scrap the whole trade, start again with Necas+Pesce+1st and ask if they’d want Bokk, Bean, or Kochetkov for the last piece, like god damn why do people propose these trades and act like Gaudreau, an established elite playmaker with 2 affordable years left, is a half-decent 2nd liner on an expiring contract

I don't know if that's necessarily true, but even if he does have issues they won't trade him unless the value is fair

As a canes fan, I can say all of those targets make sense. I can also say that in every single deal you are grossly underpaying. All of those deals are going to need more added to them. Gaudreau is going to need a first and one of our best prospects. Something like Nino, Bean, a 2021 first, and the rangers 2020 second might get it there. Mrazek would be lucky to get a single 3rd for him let alone 2. Virtanen probably add another 3rd rounder going to Vancouver at least.

Because he is a decent one dimensional winger that hasn't shown up for the playoffs... Ever. You think GMs don't notice? I love his skill set but if he's having a bad game he's invisible. If he gets traded the return will be interesting.
Yes this is light, he should get more, but your trade of a top 4 D, plus their 2 best prospects at their positions and a 1st is in another galaxy.

Please watch him play before assuming something based on the stats. I watched every game and he played genuinely poorly in maybe one of the first nine (WPG series+first 5 of DAL series). Every single person on the Flames, including the coach and the backup goalie, were bad for the last two periods of that horrendous Game 6 but overall Johnny had a pretty solid playoffs for what you could expect a playmaker to do. Playmakers are gonna look poor on the stats sheet if the finishers don't show up, and that's what happened here. Look at his point distribution--4 of his 7 points were goals, and if you remove the empty netter he was pretty close to his career average (like 0.6% below but honestly that's like 1 extra shot) so while you'd hope for more, you shouldn't complain about getting what you expect. The fact that he had less assists than goals when normally he should be getting double or triple has more to do with Monahan and Lindholm refusing to find open space unless Johnny can get around the whole team. He was usually getting past two guys and drawing a 3rd over, who would either take the puck because nobody got open in the space that created, or if someone was open, they wouldn't finish the feed. In the regular season he can take 4 guys out of the play, but teams buckle down in the playoffs and 2-3 should be more than good enough to create space for anyone else. Disappointing for the Flames, but Johnny wasn't at fault.

VAN decline, they would rather keep a cost controlled RFA.
