Domi Tatar and Poehling for Gaudreau

Created by: gm_jeanguy
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 24, 2020
Published: Aug. 24, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The rumour is that Gaudreau would be on the market, and that Domi, Poehling and 16OA would be an acceptable package. What if that mid 1st was replaced with Tatar, who's worth a late 1st and a 3rd? That way, MTL would have the cap space to resign Petry, Gallagher and Danault next summer. CGY fans, does that make any sort of sense to you?

Nope, it's actually just some idiot who made a post on twitter looking for attention. That's not enough for Gaudreau. Best part is you ahve him on your 2nd line as if he's not instantly the best forward on your team.

Sure, but I'm more interested about value here. What would you consider fair value?

Yeah, I don't think that could fly. They're both under 21 and under team control for 6-7 years, while Gaudreau may have already peaked and is UFA next year.

Everything always starts with KK, Suzuki, Romanov or Caufield! Give it up already a star player near the end of his prime with 2 years of team control is NEVER going to be worth 1-3 top RFA's/Prospects under team control for 6-7 years especially when there is a flat cap unless that star player is Crosby or Ovechkin.

Hes not a UFA next year for starters and no he is 27 he has not peaked. his game style is very similar to Kane he will be good well into his 30's

Yes end as in like 3 years max left of his prime. He is 27. Prime years are 22-30 for forwards. Therefore he is on the backend of his prime.

For most forwards yes because thats when their foot speed starts slowing down. Gaudreau has never relied on his foot speed. Look at Patrick Kane for reference

Kane plays a much different style of game than Gaudreau plus is much smaller. Comparing Gaudreau to Kane is like comparing Peter Forsberg to Mitch Marner! Gaudreau plays more like Marner than Kane. Also Kane now is not the same as Kane in his mid 20's therefore Gaudreau at 32 will not be the same player as he is at 27 time slows everyone down including Jonny.

There is a reason Kane or Gaudreau wins the stick handling competition every year, maybe Marner should enter it? They are very similar players because of their ability to slow down the game. Also who are you saying is much smaller? Gaudreau is 4cm shorter, that's not a lot.
