Not sure this makes since for the Leafs they would be trading a player who can score in the playoffs for someone who has struggled. You can say that Johnny is really good in the season if he can perform in the playoffs he’s no good to anyone

are you saying that Nylander is more valuable to a cup contender than Gaudreau is? The Flames might not have done amazing in the playoffs, but their team has been noticeably weaker than the Leafs teams that have struggled, too. Gaudreau is more valuable than Nylander, and the Flames decline

This just makes both players harder to move later and clearly the team isn't looking for the same player back or they'd just keep their guy.

I would say that Nylander is more valuable because he can play the wing and the Center the only way that Nylander would benefit the flames is if they than turn around and traded Bennet so that they can add cap room
