The Avs don’t need a dman, they’ll be looking to move a veteran dman out to create space for Byram.

Isles aren't trading Pulock. Dobson makes more sense.

I’m surprised an Isles fan is buying so low on Pulock. He is a great player

Dobson is younger and has more upside. Basically a RD sandin

He’s awesome and I probably wouldn’t do this deal but the appeal of Nylander with Barzal and hoping Dobson can develop into that top RH offensive Dman is what’s making me really consider it. If the Isles find a way to get Ladd to retire there is no way they move Pulock.

I mean if u think about it, the trade solves both teams issues. One cant defend and one has trouble scoring. Seems logical.

I cant wait though to see what Dubas does cause he made it clear he wither wants a rhd on the caliber of muzzin (i.e. Parayko, Ellis, Pulock) or hes drafting (and everyone agrees my man Braden Schneider is probs the choice)

Yeah and he’s a solution to the cap issue and not a problem, Unless the Isles are getting a really high end Wing prospect with as much control as Dobson it makes no sense.

honestly I wouldn't trade dobson for anything other than a high end center prospect. He's pretty much untouchable. He has franchise D potential.

Am I missing something? I thought Pulock was a shutdown top pair RHD and Dobson was developing slower than anticipated.

pulock is a great top pairing D - Dobson's development has been great, the isles just have a coach that refuses to play rookies.

I do understand why Trotz won’t play him though. Look how the team is preforming. The team works better with defensemen that play exactly the system Trotz wants. Dobson has great skill but he lacks the experience and will make rookie mistakes. The PO is not the time to be letting guys mature. I would like to see Dobson do it next season before letting Pulock go. But I also don’t think Pulock becomes a bonafide #1 D man. Trotz system puts shine on a lot of these guys and honestly Pelech is so damn good in his own zone it makes Pulock look even better.

yeah he'll be a regular next season. Isles have no choice with the cap crunch and boychuk isn't an NHL caliber defenseman.

Despite being sheltered playing with boychuk, dobson was 2nd offensively and 3rd defensively among isles D.

I would love to pair Dobson with Greene or Pelech. I think he’ll take off next to a steady guy like that. Boychuk is so hard to play with. Look how much better Leddy looks away from him.

Dobson should have been a regular back in November when it was evident that he was much better than boychuk and even mayfield.

Pulock is a #1D. If anything trotz system stifles offense, so the fact that pulock was 2nd among all NHL defenseman in GAR (goals above replacement) is impressive. Pulock and pelech had their breakout seasons the year before trotz became head coach. The only thing trotz system does is allow guys like Boychuk and mayfield to not look completely out of place because they always have support.

Boychuk is a bottom 5 defenseman in the NHL
