We should push for this If its an opportunity

Created by: NJ11
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2020
Published: Aug. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Calgary gets two picks in the top 60 , a good middle six wing that's played well the playoffs, a solid young puck moving defecemen who can play top 4 minutes, and a throw in with Blichfeld who may turn into a useful middle six forward as well if everything works out. For the sharks you gamble on Gaudreau who hasn't been particularly good in the playoffs outside of the 2014-15 season. The reason you'd want Gaudreau is the hopes that his skill will complement guys like Hertl and Meier who can create some space for him and play well off of his playmaking. Additionally loading that second line and having couture's line play the top match-ups should give them a dominant scoring line that can help them push for the playoffs. This ultimately depends on what offers the flames get and really honestly I don't think the sharks can pull it off but it'd be an avenue worth exploring because while Gaudreau is a fairly one dimensional player, if he's put in a position to succeed he can explode as we saw a few seasons ago.

A second? maybe but his value isn't there after the year he just had. What do CBJ fans want in return?

Kapanen just got 15th OA, you really think this is enough for Gaudreau? Especially to a division rival

If Gaudreau gets moved it starts with San Jose’s 2020 first round pick. Oops!

cheers

Gaudreau really isn't worth more than that package. His playoff numbers have been dismal, his play on a season to season basis has fluctuated as well. A streaky scoring winger who is very one dimensional and labeled as a playoff choker. Value-wise we'll have to see what teams offer but I don't see any team in the top 15 at this draft making a significant offer for him using their top 15 pick.

For sure. I don’t know what Gaudreau is worth to the Sharks. I was just taking a piss out of the Karlsson trade. cheers

You’re right man he’s never been on pace for less than a 65 point year his entire career and had 84 and 99 the two seasons prior to this down year. Terrible player, definitely not a playmaker who gets dicked over by his linemates being unable to get open in the playoffs and being forced to try to do everything himself. Honestly Flames should throw in a couple 1sts to get his contract off the books.

A 2nd is pretty far off for us. Assuming he's healthy, the only thing that would stop Columbus from resigning him is the price. The team really likes him and he plays the Torts game perfectly. If he's gonna take a deal like the 2x2 you signed here, I can't see any way Columbus moves him.

I would not even be comfortable offering up this much for Gaudreau. At least not on his current contract. 2 years of Gaudreau for literally 3/5 of our best young pieces plus 1st and 2nd rounders is absurdly high. Plus it does nothing to help the forward depth and makes a top heavy team even more top heavy.

Is the likely difference of 25 points from Gaudreau to Labanc worth all of the extras included here? Big hell no from me for 25 points. Labanc is far more likely to be the 50-55 point player he was in 2018-19 than the 38 point player he was on pace for this season. Had loads of bad puck luck with crazy good advanced stats this season. Rather have the younger cheaper guy and add more around him than give up every asset in the tank for 2 years and 25 more points.
