Yay Matt Martin!!! miss that guy.

But I would rather just keep Dermott and Johnsson if we're not getting good D...

Zadorov and Weegar are both serviceable D men who feel joy when they crush someone into the boards. I like that.

TOR can have Zadorov but the pieces you are offering arent of value to COL (maybe Bracco but dont have room for him on the roster).
Keep Dermott and upgrade the 4th pick

Picked up a 3rd elsewhere for Dermott (might be worth a 2nd tbh) and packaged it with the 4th for Z

oh boy, a declining 31 year old physical player, that always ends well. Especially when his coach wont play him anything close to as much as any other regular on the team. That's a good sign, right?

except that Zadorov is hilariously over priced and plays the wrong side for the leafs to bother with him even if he was paid fairly

A mean ****er on a 1M contract. We tried all skill, you need a blend of skill and grit, Marts provides some pushback and he's great in the room. He and Marner are close.

except that he doesnt do that. He isnt a good hockey player and he barely plays anymore. He doesnt push back, he gets fluffy minutes at the bottom of the roster against weak competition.
when the next closest guy to you in ice time is getting 3+ mins a game than you, you arnt a valuable part of that team.

Weegar is a hell of a lot better than depth, he played top pair on his offside and put up numbers nearly as good as, if not better than Ekblad (and was already extremely good on the second and third pairs when he played there

Came here to say Weegar is being severely undervalued here in both trade and contract terms.

Weegar is pretty well the top realistic D target (without moving one of the Big 4) out there, but it would take an overpay.
