Intimidating Team

Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 30, 2020
Published: Aug. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I get that Nick Ritchie is in some hot water because he made a reckless play yesterday, but I feel he's a type of player that the Penguins could use. Big guy who has good hands, is extremely physical, is a decent play driver in a bottom 6 role and has been great defensively this playoffs. Another guy who I like is Corey Perry. Not really the same player he was in his prime, his legs are gone, but his hands are still there and he can make a positive impact on the powerplay. Physical as well. Will be extremely cheap. Him and Jack Dugan can split game time in this scenario.

What'd you guys think of this team I made? Are they good enough to be a contender?

The Vegas trade is awful. They're not giving up one of their best prospects and a 2nd for 2 4th liners.

They need to send a sweetener to get rid of Bjugstad and Nick Ritchie isn't worth a 2nd.

Vegas is a very analytically based team and both Simon & ZAR have great analytics. Simon is a top 6 forward, he played with Crosby & Guentzel last season yet was one of the top players on the team in chances generated. ZAR’s shot conceding rate is the lowest in the NHL, he’s an excellent defensive Forward.

If you send him to minors & he refuses to report, you can terminate his contract for free.

Did you even bother to read what I said at all?

This is like trading Cousins & Carrier for Poulin and a 2nd.

Simon & Cousins are pretty much on the same level so I’d be willing to give up a 2nd for him. ZAR is much better than Carrier & I’d be willing to give up a good prospect for him.

His parents put him into bankruptcy. He needs the money.

Im not sure Calgary gives up a first for Murray but I really do like the idea of trying to land Bennett in a Murray deal. Bennet just seems like exactly the kind of bottom six center we need right now, plus he's young.

vegas/boston trade is too much. I'd like to keep ZAR i think he's one of the best fourth liners around and he's one of our more stingy players defensively. ZAR makes us hard to play against.

While I think perry would be good in the role you gave him, it doesnt fit our mission of getting younger/faster

Ritchie doesn't worth a 2nd. He never scored more than 14 goals and 31 points. I think a 3rd would be fair enough. I'm not interested in Sam Bennett. Pens probably would have to trade him after just 1 season, because of his salary raise and the expansion draft. I'm ok with the other trades.
