I would agree but with Dubas unwilling to move the top 4 its pretty much what we are going to get. There is always the option of moving Johnsson for 3/4 guy as well

The Leafs are really going to need 2 of Sandin/Dermott/Liljegren to take a step forward this year

Or maybe if you sign someone good rather than gudas....

Like the OS idea. Won’t happen but it’s a smart ploy.

I would agree however you would need to open more cap space to get a better player I would like to see them go after Tanev or Brodie

Brodie will be overpriced. He was great this year. Next year... he will be a hybrid cross between gardiner and barrie...

I would rather have Bennett on my team than Kerfoot, lets put it that way.

Kerfoot may be more productive, but doesn't bring what Bennett brings to the table in terms of physicality.

I would too (I ****ing love Bennett and have been pulling for him since the trade ask on here from Flames fans was reasonable lol), given that my team is the Leafs and they lack that element, but just in terms of who is a better player, the answer is Kerfoot.

I think that what makes a "better player" isn't solely off of production though. I think heart and grit and toughness and defensive effort play a major role. He had a great playoffs, and his intangibles are why

Obviously there are number of things that go into evaluating a player and assessing their value, but production is by far the most weighted. That's why People are so high on Bennett at the moment; his physical play (which he has always had and yet was being dealt for scraps on here by Flames fans not three months ago) became coupled with point totals in the playoffs.

Bennett did have a great playoffs, but intangibles didn't have much to do with it in the sense that his success is completely measurable. He hit everything that moved and shot an absurd percentage. The physicality is something he can replicate, but all indicators (high shooting percentage, high on-ice save/shooting %, heavily exceeding his expected results) point to his production falling off again next season. Maybe he can maintain a level that he hasn't been able to yet in his career, but as of now... he hasn't really shown himself to be more than a good 4th liner or 3rd liner in a pinch.
