Pacioretty Fallout

Created by: NickC1988
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 20, 2016
Published: Sep. 20, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I have no idea how even this trade is, but let's be honest, that top line is ridiculously scary. Hawks get an affordable LW back for infinitely skilled Panarin. Montreal gets a Russian connection.

I have no clue what Michel Therrian is doing up there. He never ceases to amaze me! He's getting it from Torts too.......So what I've learned is that he's actually a very good hockey player.

I'd say at the very least both Panarin and Patches are even. No way is Panarin better than Patches. Patches scored 39 goals alongside David Desharnais. Panarin scored 30 alongside Kane. Invert the scenarios and Patches scores 50 and Panarin gets 20.

I'm guessing you didn't watch Panarin much last year.
Panarin opens up so much space for Kane and is a huge reason why he ran away with scoring title last year.

I'll take the 6'2 210lbs fast skating captain over the first year star playing alongside the NHL MVP this year, any day.

Anyways, this is not a knock on Panarin. I love the kid and have watched him plenty.

I'm a huge Hawks fan. Pacioretty had a "down year" last year. Pacioretty is outstanding and with a $4.5M cap hit. Anything else the Hawks could get would be a bonus...IF they could get it.

EDIT...actually if this were serious...I think the Hawks would have to give up more than straight up. $4.5M for 3 years is seriously helpful. He'd have to want out real bad for them to move it.

that's what I was thinking, Hawks better cough up more than Panarin, who's asking for 7 mill.

I'd like to think poster's know me well enough to know I wouldn't bullsh8t them even if it was regarding the team root for. Panarin is really good and I would take him on my team any day but Pacioretty for 3 more years at a 4.5M cap hit is one of the best deals in the league. He will finally after so long have a number 1 center in Galchenyuk for a full year. I don't want to trade this guy until I've seen him play this year. I know "yeah yeah blah blah" but if he and Galchenyuk stay healthy all year, 40 goals will be very reachable for him and Galchenyuk would more then likely hit 30+ himself.

Panarin hasn't convinced me entirely that he by himself can carry the load without another star player next to him. Pacioretty has shown he's capable of doing it alongside just about anyone.

I think the trade is actually pretty fair. 3 years for Radulov at 6M AAV is jumping the gun a bit tho...
