Younger

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rangers need a 1a or b center for all those great wings. Deangelo is redundant with Fox and Trouba. A gamble for Caps but need culture change. Kuzy Uber talented but frustrating and has lapses on D. Orlov has value as a top 4 LD. Domi maybe a head case, but talented and needs to play center. Would become 2C in Washington. Dillon resigned to cover for Deangelo. Signing Namesnikov is for flexibility at center and wing. Khudobin a solid 1b in goal. A younger, faster team.

Kuzy is worth way way way more than deangelo. Capitals easily decline this deal. In no way does this help them and it makes them a lot worse.

Mmh, Orlov is interesting for sure... but we'd wait to see how Romanov pans out before that trade

Ok, throw in Strome or Kvakov (sp). Kuzy is talented but not driven.

Orlov would be an asset to a lot of teams. Domi is a gamble for any team. Mal. set with Weber and Petry on RD but revolving door of mediocre on LD.

Strome is garbage. I’ll take 1st nils and Anderson for Kuzy.

I don't know about the specific returns on a few trades, but I like everything about this approach. I don't think Khudobin is leaving Dallas, I do think Kempny is leaving Washington, but keeping Carlson & Jensen and adding a strong two-way RD (Matt Dumba?) makes total sense to me. Love the idea of getting younger and faster. Contracts all seem reasonable. Domi does feel like a big gamble, I'm curious who else could fill the 2C role in a trade.

This is one of the best Caps blueprints I've seen on the site, even if the Deangelo slot is actually Deangelo or one of Dumba, Adam Larsson, Sami Vatanen, or maybe Demelo or Trevor van Riemsdyk.
