Mantha and Domi

Created by: TheWolfe
Team: 2019-20 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 1, 2020
Published: Sep. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With all the rumors circulating around Domi I thought this would be an interesting trade.

Detroit gets a guy who can play center if they need him to, can score and be a point producer and, plus is scrappy even if he's undersized.

Montreal gets the big French Canadian winger they've always wanted who could easily have a big breakout year.

I could see Detroit wanting another piece or asset which I think would be fair as Mantha probably has a higher ceiling than Domi. But as always, the question with him is will he actually reach it. What are your thoughts?

So why do you want Mantha? You've (not just you but the Montreal fans who won't let it go) spent the last couple days telling Detroit fans how bad Mantha is but you still want him on Montreal?

I never wanted Mantha just contradicted Detroit fans claiming Mantha is some how more valuable than Domi. I have never made an ACGM involving Mantha and never will cause IMO he is not what this team needs. We need a healthy top 6 winger capable of scoring 25+ goals a year with size and skill. Otherwise NOT Mantha.

I never said Romanov wasn't better than Mantha. but its a moot point since Detroit isn't trading Mantha.

Habs not trading Romanov eithet

LMAO Juulsen who had 2 fluke eye injuries in 1 game has no value because he is injury prone as many have said. But Mantha who missed 170 games in 5 years fluke injuries or not is somehow more valuable. Talk about a double standard wow. It does not matter if he has 1 major injure that put him out for 2 years or 7 fluke injuries. When you miss 170 games out of 410 you are going to be labeled as injury prone and your value will be diminished.

I never said anything about Juulsen....good straw man argument though. Juulsen has very little value probably because he's a very average NHL defenseman....

Mantha is not injury prone - that is a fact, my friend.

OK on both accounts Juulsen was projected to be a top 4 D man before the injury and if he truly is fully recovered could still hit that potential. Explain how missing 2 full years out of a 5 year career is not injury prone. Fluke injuries or not he has had multiple injuries over 5 years hence injury prone.

I couldn't care less what he was projected to be, he is CLEARLY not that. Most organization can replace someone of Juulsen's ability for late picks or with someone already in the org.

The comparison in the first place is ridiculous - there is no projection with Mantha. He is a bonafide top line power forward in the NHL.

Take a look at his injuries and how they occurred, then you'll have your answer.

Again I was not comparing Mantha to Juulsen just their injury history. It doesn't matter how the injuries occur. The very definition of injury prone according to the Webster's dictionary is - frequently injured. By that definition Mantha is indeed injury prone whether you want to believe it or not!. I get that your mad that I pointed out his injury history as being another reason to not want Mantha but there is no denying that he has been frequently injured in his first 5 years in the league to the tune of 170 games = 2 full seasons + 7 games out of 5 seasons, that's not great.

Domi has scored 28 goals only once
Mantha has never scored 28 goals
Domi has recorded 70 points once in his career
Mantha has never reached 50 points in a season

So why do Habs fans keep wanting to swap the two...you'd think they'd be over the moon to have the "superior" Domi.

He’s better at C and Habs gave 4 C spots locked up now without him, and they need wingers

Ok, But Habs fans are forgetting Detroit has needs everywhere. If they trade Mantha for a center suddenly they need another winger on the top line and they have a center in Domi but no good wingers for him to play with. A one for one swap would never happen for Detroit, it improves them in no way whatsoever. If Montreal wanted Mantha they need to really make it worth while for Detroit. Otherwise it's steady as she goes in the Red Wing Land with the rebuild. Draft and Develop. Trade when a desperate GM comes along and can be fleeced for picks and prospects.
