Fast Smith

Created by: Whiskerz
Team: 2020-21 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 4, 2020
Published: Sep. 4, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not particularly happy with brining back Dell, but if we wanna get better on wing we are gonna need to give up hope for a better goalie tandem, hopefully Jones getting the rest for 9 months has his recover to 2016 form. After being in Top 10 in games played since we acquired him in 2015-16, my guess is he recovers to be a 0.915% goalie in 20-21.

I still think this team will be around the wild card position though

This deal happens after Leafs have traded Kerfoot and/or Johnsson. Sorenson will play 3/4LW and is on a cheap expiring contract, plays heavy and has good speed.

REALLY like this roster. Smith is seriously underrated and would be a phenomenal fit in SJ's top-6.

I hope you're okay if I borrow from this idea with a little tweaks and my own thoughts on the cap numbers -- I'll make sure to credit you.

Projected around 4.25M, however I think there will be a few bidders and Sharks are desperate

5x5 is pretty lucrative for Smith. I like him a lot, but at that rate, you may as well give Toffoli 6x5 and get better production out of him. Smith for 2 years makes sense at 4.5-4.75 million. For 5 years, 3.75-4 is what I think he should be making.

The goal tending scares me again as well. Other than that, this is a potential playoff roster I think.

Regardless of where Craig Smith signs (I would like him in SJ), I bet the contract is 3 years at about $4.5 million/year.

I'd rather take a flyer on one of the other veteran FAs than re-sign Dell -- especially at that price. I'd expect Dell to get a 1 year, $1million deal in the FA market.
