Habs Big Changes

Created by: Deleted_xh2j92
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 5, 2020
Published: Sep. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Out for Danault and Domi, actions and words spoke lots so trade them, put in Hudon with a second pick and you can get Laine who also wants out of Winnipeg; Trade Lindgren with a loss in pick round since we have enough that Habs can afford this; Send Byron and a 3rd to Ottawa to get a 2nd round since they have enough to spare, he gives them offense and a veteran player; Drouin and Friberg with a 3rd next yr for 1st pick next yr with L.A. This pick will likely be a mid-pick since getting 2ns overall will help them and with Drouin they'll get a good player for their 2nd line. Petru Teasdale and Hillis with a 2nd roud for Calgary's 1st. It's a high pick, Calgary needs the help at the blue line that doesn't cost too much.
We sign Hoffman, Brassard and PItlick to help stabilize the first and fourth line; bring up our young centers, Shattenkirk and Soucy to beef up the blue line and bring in Romanov and sign back Mete. Bring up Poehling and Belzile to round up the offense until Cauflield is ready to come in the NHL; and there you have it. 23 player roster with 300+K$ to play with and 29M$ to sign back your RFAs and sign the UFAs you need to keep which includes Laine who'll ask for around 8M$/yr for 6 to 7 years.

Why are you paying to dump a 750k contract and expecting a rebuilding team to give up a 2nd for a 31yo 4th lines signed at 3.4 for 3 more years? Sens reject, Preds accept, Flames consider.

OTT accept tho but MTL isn’t trading Byron. Bergevin likes him and won’t call to trade him. If OTT call and propose Bergevin to move up 25 spots for Byron, he would say no. Anyway Byron doesn’t hold value for the other teams so it’s useless trading him

This is one of the better trolls for Laine. Should have made the 2nd a 4th or lower to seal it as one of the worst offers.

Just because a player is from a place doesn’t mean that team wants him

there is literally not a chance ottawa accepts this. byron had 4 goals and makes 3.5 for 3 years. his contract would look bad even on the Sens roster for gods sake. If anything its byron+2nd for like a 5th.

Kings decline. That 1st round pick is likely going to be top 5 overall again.

Don't count on that. They have 2nr round pick and it's a very good draft year, they'll pick one of the top three guys and they can change a team. They can easily move up and drop spots. They still have a very good team capable of being mid pack in the league.

Melnik needs a home town guy to calm fans, Byron can produce way more than last year and is a threat on penalty kill. Ott will need a couple of seasoned vets that can wake up the ones they have right now. Byron fits that bills.

We dont care about paul byron lol. Us sens fans are way more excited about the rebuild and so is the sens organization we dont need an overpaid hometown kid just cause hes from here. Sure he can out produce 4 goals but even if he scores like 10-12 its not worth MOVING DOWN in the draft AND taking on what would still be a bad cap hit for 3 more years. We also dont need veterans we have plenty, we dont need more especially at that price. We could easily get like brendan smith+3rd or loui eriksson+1st if they decided that we really needed a vet. Really though he would just take a roster spot away from one of our young guys (which we have a ton of) and would stunt the growth. By the sounds of it, Byron is more valuable to MTL than any other team in the league imo, he wont be traded.

this is an easy decline from the sens

Byron as value, jut not for a rebuilding team + Bergevin doesn’t want to trade him so we never should see some Byron trade here

Neither Byfield or Stutzle will make the team this year. Byfield will be playing in juniors and Stutzle will be in the DEL.

There's only going to be a handful of changes from last year's team to this year's team. There will be ZERO roster changes in the top six. The only change on the defense will be whatever veteran LHD Blake acquires in the off-season.

The Kings future is bright, but it is still at least a full season away. They're not going to make significant strides next season and will still be a basement team. Drouin is a decent option for a 2LW, but he's not worth a lottery pick. I could see the Kings giving up the Vegas or Vancouver 2nd round pick for him, but nothing more than that.

I would hope they go for Byfield, he's a big player with very good skills and put up the points in the OHL. He'll make a good replacement player for Carter in 2-3 years. If that's the case, he could jump to the NHL. Normally they tend to stay in the minors when they don't have the size or skating. He's got both. So I'm sure that he's a toss up to play in the NHL right now.

Pretty much every scout says that he needs another year in junior. Mark Yanetti, the Kings Director of Amateur Scouting, said that he's at least a year away from being ready for the NHL. I do think the Kings will draft Byfield and shift Turcotte to LW, giving them a quality center lineup of Kopitar/Byfield/Vilardi/Anderson-Dolan in a couple seasons. However, next year the Kings are looking at Kopitar/Vilardi/Amadio/Lizotte. Carter will play at RW on Amadio's line.

2020-21
Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Kempe-Vilardi-Frk
Grundstrom-Amadio-Carter
Moore-Lizotte-Wagner
Anderson-Dolan
14th Forward (Kupari?)

2021-22
Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Turcotte-Vilardi-Kaliyev
Kempe-Byfield-Kupari
Grundstrom-JAD-Madden (Wagner gets taken in expansion draft)
Fagemo
Carter

Drouin would be a nice add for the 2nd line next to Vilardi, but not at the expense of next year's 1st round pick. The Kings could offer up something like Vancouver's 2020 2nd (51st overall) and Akil Thomas for him, but they won't pay much more than that.
