I dont hate this deal, but i think TOR has different plans with that pick by the sounds of things

I know they've been linked to Parayko, but I don't think that's going to happen. Severson is a nice consolation prize and his reasonable cap hit can easily fit into their plans for the next few years.

Without Rodrigues I think this is the deal to happen.

I just threw in Rodrigues to make the cap work from Toronto's side. He's an RFA this offseason, so NJ can just choose to not qualify him and let him walk. Or they can bring him back for cheap.

The discussion would just never get to him. Both teams would know he doesn't help the deal. AJ and the first looks fine for Damon and the logic of the deal is there also.

Devils are also short R handed D men so I'm not sure they are willing to trade Severson even if the return is essentially reasonable
