Easy no for oilers. They aren’t giving jp away.

EDM take that and run. Habs should not swap Lehkonen for Poolparty. Weal in this situation means nothing.

Pretty much the same perspective, but from the Habs side. Habs aren't giving away Lehkonen for someone like Poolparty.

I get the pickle EDM are in with Puljujarvi. The guy is obviously talented. But he will not garner anything substantial in a trade due to the decisions he's made. The kid is practically demanding to play in a top 6 role without having earned it.
I just can't see any team in this league willing to move something of value for him, knowing if he doesn't get what he wants, he'll just run back to Finland.

It’s a pickle of a situation but i don’t think it’s nearly as bad as it’s made out to be. Most reports are sooo back and forth I don’t think any really have the slightest clue what’s going on internally with both sides. Both sides have remained mostly hush hush which creates speculation. Time frame is very consistent to what I expected from Holland’s first comments on this matter. Jp didn’t leave to play in Finland for a month or two the deadline to sign creeps up far too quickly. This coming season was the soonest realistic time. If you were jp right now considering just had a successful season at home how big of a rush would you be to sign and move back to North America considering the state of pandemic uncertainty of when and how the league will operate. With oilers he’s got a coaching staff now that’s proven to give youth big opportunity considering his competition is kass for a role next to mcdavid can’t foresee a better situation in the league for him. I really think it began because of charelli but uncertainty around the league right now is the only set back and that’s in my opinion why a trade is completely unlikely because it doesn’t matter what team it is that uncertainty will exist.

2 bad trades for the Habs

Habs get
A bust
A defenseman who won't do better or worse than Kulak

They get rid of
A top 6 player
A top 4 defenseman
A solid penalty killer and defensive forward
An ok 4th line plug

Expected Goals For for the Kulak Petry pairing for the past 2 seasons: 2.87 (4th strongest in the league)
Expected Goals Against for the Kulak Petry pairing for the past 2 seasons: 1.92 (5th strongest in the league)

I don't see any reason to make a change.

Brodin is slightly stronger than Kulak defensively, but he's not worth it as he absolutely kills offense too.
