Heres something

Created by: Duggysdanglers
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 14, 2020
Published: Sep. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is not unreasonable.
1. Nylander and Liljegrin for 2 solid players. Trade their 2nd round pick for a late first. Not bad at all.
2. Simmonds and Lewis get signed to PTOs and make the team. Both have experience and grit. Lewis has 2 Cups.
Could still another RC.

Not a leafs fan but I like it? Younger assets going to the rebuilding team, too.

I’d say if Liljegren is removed I’d say it’s fair.

Deals like this always seem so out of place for the Leafs. Why would you want to get older and with less term when the current team hasn't really shown something worth looking shorter term for?

Well in order for the Leafs to ACTUALLY get better, Kyle Chiarelli is going to have to deal one of Nylander/Marner. Kerfoot and Johnsson are not netting you quality defense on their own and the Leafs really need a better 2nd and 3rd pair defense. I'm a HABS fan and I want the Leafs to get better, same as my Habs, because I want to see them fight it out in the playoffs for the first time in my lifetime and ignite that oldtime rivalry.

Not a whole lot of point in the Ducks moving their best RD, their best fwd and a 1st for Nylander and a mid 2nd. Doesn't fill the teams biggest need (RD), doesn't clear any cap space, and doesn't bring back any prospects.

Zero point in adding Nylander if the team is going allow 60 shots a game.

Problem with your evaluation is that you dont trade 70-90 point wingers for 2nd/3rd pairing defensemen. The way forward is moving Johnsson for cap space and looking to free agency where theres 4-5 guys that can fill a 2nd pairing spot.

i'm not crazy about the trade, i like Willy and Lily will be a top 4 RD. Two firsts is neat but i don't know if its good enough to warrant giving up so much
Lehtonen will play 3RD off the jump and will stay there unless he flops.
Sandin and Dermott will rotate 3LD until one of them proves themselves.
Dermott and Mikky will likely sign closer to 1x1.25M, 2x1.5M, 3x1.75M/2M
Spezza will be on the 4th for 750K, if you want to keep Simmonds, toss him on 4LW and use Engvall as the scratch, not Goat

The idea is to bring in a guy who can put up 60+ points to play with Zegras. The Ducks will still have $7 m in cap space because Kesler will go straight to LTIR as soon as the season starts. That’s $7 m to sign a top 4 RD.

Something has to give here.
1. Manson brings an element that this Leafs team has not had until Muzzin arrived. He will help forge an identity and that’s something that Liljegrin won’t do for a long long time. He’s literally played 11 games. Manson will help this team get competitive for the playoffs before Tavares exits his prime. And before Matthews exits altogether in what 4 years?
2. Rakell is a point producing RW who might put up even better numbers next to JT.
3. They swap a 2nd for a late 1st so they’ll get a better prospect. And they will be able to draft players with higher ceilings because they can take their time to develop them. At 15 they will be able to target one of those skill F’s like Jarvis, Mercer, Holloway or whomever they like. At 27 they can target a RD like Helge Grans or another D like O’Rourke, Wallinder or whomever. They will lots of time for these guys to come along.
For Anaheim: 1. They get a top line RW to play will Zegras who can put up 60+ points and he’s signed for a long time.
2. Liljegrin gets them a younger RD with top 4 potential that they can build around. They will have time while they are rebuilding.
3. Still get a 2nd round pick as a future.

There’s no guarantee that the Finn is able to fill top 4 minutes. It’ll take time for him to get up to NHL speed. Nothing wrong with having several NHL quality D to choose between.
I think they need to move on from Spezza. Lewis gives them Cup experience.
I think those 2 RFAs need 2 year deals until the Cap situation changes.

What about Kerfoot to Edmonton for Larsson?

Spezza was a great player for the Leafs last year, 3RD is not top 4 minutes its the 3rd right defencemen.
Mikky and Dermott can get 2 year deals but not for much more than 1.5M per

Oh ok. I'd switch liligeren with Holl, if the second was a 3rd.

I would not trade Holl at all. He pairs nice with Muzzin.

The idea is to have another stalwart RD to go along with Holl. Need a solid RD to pair with Reilly. I think that trade is more than fair for both sides.
