i'm not crazy about the trade, i like Willy and Lily will be a top 4 RD. Two firsts is neat but i don't know if its good enough to warrant giving up so much
Lehtonen will play 3RD off the jump and will stay there unless he flops.
Sandin and Dermott will rotate 3LD until one of them proves themselves.
Dermott and Mikky will likely sign closer to 1x1.25M, 2x1.5M, 3x1.75M/2M
Spezza will be on the 4th for 750K, if you want to keep Simmonds, toss him on 4LW and use Engvall as the scratch, not Goat
Something has to give here.
1. Manson brings an element that this Leafs team has not had until Muzzin arrived. He will help forge an identity and that’s something that Liljegrin won’t do for a long long time. He’s literally played 11 games. Manson will help this team get competitive for the playoffs before Tavares exits his prime. And before Matthews exits altogether in what 4 years?
2. Rakell is a point producing RW who might put up even better numbers next to JT.
3. They swap a 2nd for a late 1st so they’ll get a better prospect. And they will be able to draft players with higher ceilings because they can take their time to develop them. At 15 they will be able to target one of those skill F’s like Jarvis, Mercer, Holloway or whomever they like. At 27 they can target a RD like Helge Grans or another D like O’Rourke, Wallinder or whomever. They will lots of time for these guys to come along.
For Anaheim: 1. They get a top line RW to play will Zegras who can put up 60+ points and he’s signed for a long time.
2. Liljegrin gets them a younger RD with top 4 potential that they can build around. They will have time while they are rebuilding.
3. Still get a 2nd round pick as a future.
