Your mistake is that you are viewing this in terms of hockey, and not in terms of a greedy owner saving millions of dollars when thats all he cares about.

The value right now isn’t far off. Isles are dumping an awful contract and getting a pretty good D prospect and middle 6 winger - but Dobson has the potential to be the isles #1D as soon as next season. It’s not worth it.

Dobson is amazing, its why I love him lol ( I am very aware he isn't available but that's not the point haha )

lol but thats not even right though for a greedy millionaire. Ladd is 4M real for 3 years. 12M, plus 2Mx2 on Ryan is 4, for 16M. Bobby only costs 15. Sp its more expensive, and you get the much worse player, and its for longer.

Even without retention, youre saving 3M, but youre keeping the bad cap longer and losing assets of the rebuild

Its 6 million as the Avs would Ladd's 1st SB. Also its better to spread out your losses in an environment like this.
