Description
Part 1 : https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/365801?post_id=1761616

we have 37M to resign some core players if there is no cap increase. We have 14 roster spot to fill. I've added a 2M cap increase, but still respect a 81.5M cap space

Danault: 5M for 8 years : 32M left
Gallagher: 6.8M for 6 years. : 25.2M left
KK bridge: 4.5M for 4 years : 20.7M left
A sub goalie : max 3M : 17.7M left.

Now 10 spot to fill.

I don't know if we'll resign Petry or go for someone younger on the market.

BUT 17.7 Million left for 10 spot is doable = 1.77M per spot on the line up.

17 entry level contracts
Or
8.8 two million contracts
Or
5.9 three million dollars contracts
Or
4.4 four millions dollars contracts
Or
2.5 seven million dollars contracts.

Some guys in the bottom core will leave if they want a raise, but there is a lot of place to sign the rest of the team. Lets also accounts to the fact that one of those LHD newly signed might leave for Seattle for the expansion draft.

Don't give Danault 8 years, he's already being passed by Suzuki and KK.
His value will drop because his production and ice time will drop.
4 years, same value as insurance in case one of the others doesn't pan out.

Gallagher should be 6 years $5.5M, he won't get 6.8 on the open market.

Hamilton is interesting, but I think he doesn't sign, and you give 4 years $6M to Petry as an extension.

      just my opinion.

Hudon will never get a full roster spot with Montreal, he just doesn't have enough to his game to produce consistenly, nor is he gritty enough to eat bottom line minutes.

Ok, my team still respect both. And for the Suzuki signing, both Alzner and Chariot (and others) come off the books for a grand total of 18M in cap space.

Upgrade one of the 3rds to a 2020 2nd (lower of the two) and you have a deal.

i thing you could get a great price for Danault if you sign him to 8 years. The guy wants his kid to grow up in French in Québec. he spends his summers and winters here in Québec. He wants to stay put (even if a misguided rumor send him elsewhere). At probably 4 or 4.8 he might stay on a team friendly contract. Also, I don't think his ice time is gonna go down. He will keep playing against the best lines in the NHL... and that is very demanding in term of ice time. And he will probably still get around 50 pts because big talented line are often **** defensively.

Gally is in a weird situation where he was underpaid for a long time. Now he'll try to cash in as much as he can WHILE being reasonable because he still wants to be on a winning team. Gally, I do agree, will probably go for less if MB can convince him that he is on a contender

It’s deal Edm would consider but you’d have to take some money to make deal work

Ish don't know man, not much space left and I think Lekhonen and a 2nd is fair payment

Unless Kotkaniemi is going to have a truly breakout year, 4.5mil$ for 4 years as a bridge seems wayyyy too high.

I agree the value coming back is good just Edm not in a spot to take straight money without money going back or have another deal in place that free the cap space to made the deal which could be a possibility
