McCann to Minnesota Murray to Colorado

Created by: HSB96
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 16, 2020
Published: Sep. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think Pittsburgh won’t get that 1st around Pick for Murray, but I see getting a proven 2 way Center in Jost and a 3rd round pick (2021)

With McCann I see a One for One trade with Minnesota getting Ryan Donato filling in that 3rd Line LW/C role with Jost and Hornqvist!

Values fine but Murray is not An upgrade in net for the avs so the logic behind them trading for him makes no sense

Logic is JR won’t get that First Rounder for Murray, but getting younger Player for the Pens is a plus. With Jost he is 22 and still has that Top 6 Potential that Pittsburgh needs. Also seen him fit better with a speed team in Pittsburgh and have an opportunity to compete with Kapanen on Crosby line.

It works for the pens it doesn’t for the avs, Murray at best is a lateral move in net but would have a higher aav than grubauer and has a more concerning injury history

The fit isn’t there with avs having both grubi and francouz under contract next season

Here is the thing! There sources saying that Gurbi or Francouz will be trades that will fill the spot for Murray they will make it work if COL gets Murray!

I like McCann a lot but I don’t see him staying with Pittsburgh. I hope he sparks somewhere else

Actually no sources are saying that but that wont stop Pens fans for believing their goalie they are trying to desperately move is some sort of golden goose for a cup contending team. If Murray is as good and valuable as Pens fans pretend him to be, Penguins wouldn't be trading him.

I seen a source stating that one of two of them are on the block but that might have been a false article. That being said. Murray needs a change of scenery. His loss of the father played a big role in this downgrade. Not saying that an excuse, but he hasn’t look good ever since but I see COL with that team I think it works and couple be a great win-win on both sides!

The only guy who has posted anything about Avs and Murray is Adrian Dater and hes not an insider, hes a click bait writer. The pittsburgh media has picked up his tweets, which are lazy speculation by his part, and ran with it.

Avs goalies were injured in the playoffs...they arent in a hurry to trade their goalies who were good for them all last year and the year before. They got hurt that sucks but is hockeysometimes, you need to be good and lucky to win a cup.

Its not really win win for either side. Murray is going to cost double that Grubauer in terms of a cap hit and isnt an upgrade. Avs dont ahve infinite cap space next season and to uncessarily eat up a big chunk of it wihtout upgrading your team isnt really the kind of move Sakic does.

I cant see the 2 teams making a trade bc their GM are polar opposites. GMJR rushes his moves out early to the point he over pays so his work is done before deadlines and sakic is uber patient and doesnt over pay. They set their price and they dont budge.

Pens will trade Murray before the draft, cant see sakic if he wants to make a move in Net until they are in free agency where he can explore all options. at the price they set.

I think there's a good opportunity for the Avs to roll with Murray AND Grubauer! Give Murray a 1yr deal. Let the two fight for their next contract.

Murray has 1RFA year left; doing a 1yr deal at a reasonable AAV isn't out of the question. Sakic can't afford to keep wasting seasons hoping & praying it will work out.

nah just calling a spade a spade.
Murray has arb rights and is looking for 6-8m aav. this is the definition of reckless asset management. IIn what way has Sakic ever did such a mismanagement of paying a premium for a guy, let him go to Arb (which Murray will go to unless he gets a long term deal) and risk him walking to UFA.

in what way is sakic wasting seasons? Their window just opened right now. If you want to talk about wishing and praying, you are wishing and praying that Murray can be healthy and good as well. Just a bad move in a vaccum

I think you're hilarious for being so concerned about asset mgmt. There's only ONE thing that matters now for the Avs: on-ice results. $1M here or there is irrelevant if it gets the team to the top. An extra draft pick is irrelevant. An extra prospect is irrelevant. Do what is necessary to win! Too many people, you included, are too concerned about who won this trade, etc. My opinion: just bring home the damn Cup.

FWIW: I love the idea of attacking next season with both Grubauer and Murray; trade Francouz.

You think a sub .900 goalie last year and has been a shell of himself the last 3 years who has major injury issues and wants to be paid like an elite goalie is going to get them over that top, then you’re in for a rude awakening, Murray isn’t very good and you want to believe he is bc he was good multipe years ago. Maybe all his concussions and injuries is why he has declined. Funny
