I would do '21 3rd and you overpaid Krug; he isn't a top pair D. Keep Pelech-Pulock and then Krug-Mayfield

We’d regret that krug contract after 1 year.

We’re trading our best offensive defenseman to dump a contract, then overpaying one that will decline fairly soon. I’m not about it

I don’t think he’d decline THAT quickly, and dumping Boychuk and Hickey w Toews means we don’t need to trade a bunch of futures to get rid of them, so in a way it’s better for our future (at least that’s how I see it.) it’s not gonna happen so it doesn’t rly matter anyway, I’m j kinda spitballing. I’ve had a lot of trouble lately trying to be creative w isles posts, I feel like I’ve done everything

That’s a fair point, I just think isles fans in general underestimate some of our defenseman because this system doesn’t allow them to take risks - so guys like toews , Leddy, and pulock Never look dynamic. But another team Toews would be recognized as an elite defenseman in the next year or 2 and I don’t want to deal with that sh*t lol

$7.5M would be the max I would do if I was the GM of another team. Even then, the 5th/6th/7th year(s) of that deal will likely be an issue.

It would cost a first-rounder to move $8.5 cap hit for the next two years for players who would likely clear waivers, The Kings could offer sheet Toews $4M and pay the Isles a second and they would still be in cap hell. Not sure I follow the logic of this trade.

I like Krug, but I think Barzy is going to cost at least 9mil so I don't know if we can afford it

If I could I’d prob only do 7 per year, but with how the UFA market is he’s gonna get vastly overpaid

Yeah ik what u mean, another worry is how would he do in the Trotz system. I honestly believe Lou will find a way to keep the 3 RFAs, but I don’t see any extra pieces coming in

I’m fine with keeping the 3 RFA and adding sorokin, wahlstrom , and Dobson.

If we do that We’ll be contenders again next season

I see him as a responsible 4th liner, but if he gets that spot it would b interesting to see what he could do

Dal colle-pageau-wahlstrom/bailey would be a solid 3rd line.

Dal colle was great last season, not even exagerrating. He was average offensively and elite defensively. When you have brassard or bailey as your center and kuhnhackl/komarov as your rw its really hard to be effective. Quality of teammates has a big effect on performance. He’ll never be a top 6 player but he’s well on his way to being an above average 3rd liner

Good point, I hope Trotz plays him, although since he’s good defensively I don’t see why he wouldn’t

Why he didn’t put dal colle in game 2 I’ll never understand... like what logic is there to put a 34 year old who hasn’t played in 6 months over a guy who helped you win 2 elimination games

I actually think it means they could say he got injured in that game lol

If they didn’t play him at all but still brought him into the bubble, I think it would be tougher

Either way, I just have a hard time believing Lou is going to allow Ladd or boychuk to mess up his plan
