They might accept if you took out their pick.

Without an extension in place, I feel like his value isn't that far off from Kessel when he was traded to Pittsburgh. Kessel got a late 1st and Kapanen. Laine is a bit better so I feel a 2C, B+ prospect, and moving 4 spots up at the top of a good draft is pretty fair. If we don't swap picks I'd probably do the Boston 1st or our 2nd and another prospect (or like Heinien/Milano) in addition to rico and one of the LW kids (Jones/Comtois). 6 OA is near untouchable for us, we don't get many opportunities for top talent, hence why I think we should trade depth for a superstar like Laine, to pair with 6 OA and Zegras as the next core.

I would say there is no chance the Jets accept a declining 30 year old with a bad contact as a main piece for Laine.

You lose all credibility when you use that as an excuse. He’s doesn’t have a bad contract and he’s not on the decline. 26 goal 2Cs are hard to come by. You can say that package isn’t enough but not based on your reasoning.

Completely agree, I'd be willing to give up Steel. Thought Rico was a better fit for WPG and maybe a little more valuable. Thought they're trying to contend and trade Laine as more of a 'hockey trade' than a shift to a rebuild.

Without an extension, when has that ever been a factor in Anaheim? Jets deals for laine would need team control and future involved, some pieces that would be in jets uniforms for a good while, not finishing pieces, something to continue the build, hope it goes better than selanne, chouinard for kilger and tverdovsky
