Why is Edmonton adding a $8.5M cap commitment to a guy who doesn't have any more value than Russel on an expiring contract?

They'd have to be pretty well convinced he's worth the gamble to take a $53M, seven year marriage gamble... Which also implies they know he's worth way more than an expiring 5D...

TBH I was being favourable with just including Russell. If I was GM I'd offer Neal for OEL with $2.25M retention, take it or leave it.
