The team isn’t spending 3.25 million on the player though in actual real dollars. A lot of teams are looking to blow it up. I give you the coyotes for instance. They need to save money. They really don’t care on building a good team and would rather have players that have cap hits to keep them above the cap floor but don’t have to pay as many real dollars as the players cap hit. Which JJ falls into that category. Especially in his last year.

They do care about building a good team which is why they fired their GM.

What do either of those have to do with Johnson or taking on unwanted salary?

yeah I'm going to stop wasting my time arguing with you

You said 'this market is not like other markets' so I gave two examples of players, one being signed for their standard value, one being moved for fair value despite their contract being on the higher end for a backup. Those would imply the market is just like the normal market in cap terms. I'll even add a third, the Pens got 2M in cap space for free from Minnesota. All three of those moves would imply the market is pretty normal, despite the 'financial situation'

When I'm arguing with someone, and I can provide examples for why I'm right and they can't, I tend to assume I'm probably right

And why they are currently having a fire sale trying to trade away their best players because they make significant salaries and want to be 10-12 million under the cap ceiling at most? Doesn’t sound like a team looking to win to me 🤷‍♂️. Their GM terminated his own contract if I’m not mistaken because the Yotes initially allowed him to interview for another job then told him he couldn’t. At least that’s how I understood it 🤷‍♂️

You're simply missing the point. Cap dumps are not going to operate the same right now because of the market and because of the surplus of goalies available it's going to affect Murray's return. Pretty simple.

I didn’t say they have moved anyone yet. But Friedman reported OEL could be traded and that everyone over the age of 25 is available. So anyone pretty much with a significant sized contract. They are looking to also recoup draft picks as they had to forfeit some. Also they are behind on payments for their arena. So they will look to cut actual dollars.

See the thing is everyone knows PIT HAS to move one goalie or another so already the field is set, furthermore to resign and have capspace they HAVE to move bad contracts therefore the dynamics of the market change, you want to move a bad contract its going to cost you, Detroit is in no rush to send its higher end round draft picks to PIT cause you guys have to move some contracts. Detroit has time and the space so the ball is in our court to turn it down. There will also be other teams looking to move aswell who could ask for less in return.

Detroit says no

This guy gets it. Like, really gets it. Not sure how others can’t grasp.

there's more than a couple that feel the need to present those takes as the truth with zero backing

Bjugstad to the Wings for a 4th? How’d that go
