I've heard a lot of NAS fans saying they'd rather deal with Turris' contract rather than give up 11OA. So get ready for that.

From a DET Fan perspective, I would think taking on 4years of 6M would result in 11OA by itself, if not more. After all, TOR got a 1st for taking on 6M of Marleau, and that one only one year. So FOUR years of 6M should mean more in return. That's how I look at it.

But taking on Turris to get 11OA, maybe not make that move until NAS is on the clock.... to make sure you get who you want. Askarov?!?!?

To dump a 6 million cap hit over the next 4 years that's playing on their 4th line. Filppula gives about the same value as Turris but is half the price and only 1 more year on his deal.
Detroit could find a better use for Turris than Nashville. He'd be a serviceable 2nd or 3rd line center for a couple seasons at least while the rebuild goes on.

So you think think Nashville is gonna give up the 11th OA pick for someone that "gives about the same value" as the guy they already have....

Interesting.

Sure we'd love I but 11th oa to dump a guy seems a bit much. More likely they retain 1 or 1.5 million and reduce the cost

When considering 6 million for 4 years vs 3 million at 1 year for a 3rd / 4th line center...
Also considering Nash has two 2nd's already and this would give them three...It's not like they'd be going away from the draft without any quality.

It would have to be for a player that the Wings really want. Perhaps Askarov? But if Sanderson was magically still available at 11 I'd make this move in a heartbeat if Nashville was willing. Sanderson and Seider manning the blue line for the next 10 years is a recipe for success. Opportunities to unload a 6 million cap hit on the 4th line don't come by everyday, but I'm sure Preds fans will have their arms up in the air anyways

I don't disagree that Nash wants to get rid of Turris but there's no way they give us 11OA for that. Will prob have to add an actual player of value. NSH can just sit on that contract for a year before they buy it out or wait for a more advantageous offer.

If it's the right player for Detroit at 11. This is the sort of trade that would happen on draft day in the moment. Not for a shot in the dark at 11.
Sanderson if still available would be a 100% yes for me.
Askarov if still available would be a big gamble but could pay off big time.

Who know's, sometimes very good talent just falls unexpectedly

I don't think the trade is very far out of line from reality. NSH moves down 44 spots and regains $21mm in cap space ($3mm the first year, $6mm the rest), plus actual cash savings in terms of real dollars (which would be $21mm, as his deal was straight salary). If NSH buys him out, they'll be paying until 2028 @ $2mm/year. NSH has $8mm for 2020-2021 to sign 5 players, this move means they'll have $11mm for 4 players and gives them a player that could be flipped at the TDL if need be.

For DET, they'll get a 2/3 C to allow Veleno and Rassmussen to grow properly (Rass was WAY rushed, and Veleno just turned 20). It also gives them a right-handed forward (something they don't have a lot of). The 11OA you take the BPA (Lundell [1st choice], Askarov, Quinn, Holloway [2nd choice]). DET needs talent everywhere, they shouldn't focus on 1 player.

This is a pass from the wings, we don't need to dump filppula to get less value, the 2nd also is not being given up. Turris + first + 3rd in 2022 gets it done for erne or perlini

Turris is not less value than Filppula. They're fairly equal in terms of talent, you can expect about 30 pts a year roughly from both. Turris might even bounce back for 40-50 pts a year if given a 2nd line center role between Zadina and Fabbri. Where as Filppula can be a responsible 3rd line checking center for Nash and still put up 30 pts at a very reduced cost and term.

Your trade proposal of requesting Turris + 1st + 3rd for Erne or Perlini is the sort of trade offer that gets your number blocked by David Poile.

Which is completely fine and they can keep that cap hit for their 3c/4c and we will go on with our cap space just fine. If it's not something of value to take a cap hit we aren't taking it to help other teams

You don't think the 11th overall pick isn't something of value? There will be high quality talent available at 11. In case you've been living under a rock, Detroit could use more high quality talent. That 11th pick could potentially be Sanderson, Askarov or Lundell depending of what teams 1-10 do. Detroit would be crazy to pass on any one of these three guys when they have the cap space to take on a Turris contract. It only takes one team to deviate and highly value a player that was ranked 10-15 for this to happen.

And it's not like Turris wouldn't have a role in Detroit. He can still play, he's just been pushed down the lineup on a good Nashville team and is now being paid 6mil to warm the bench.

We could use that pick obviously, all I was saying is the pick isn't going back to them and Nashville can add a 3rd in 2022 to even out 5 years of turris at 6M. If not no big deal and we keep the cap space and pick
