Next 2 Years for the Flyers

Created by: jasonjr7
Team: 2020-21 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 24, 2020
Published: Sep. 24, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ghost Trade:
Hate to say it, but take whatever picks we can get from whoever wants him

JVR Trade:
Just dump him, anything but a first

Krug Signing:
Gives us a veteran stud to put with Myers for a long time, Provorov gets one more year with Niskanen then its York/Zamula and our Top 4 is locked

Winnipeg Trade:
As much as I hate to get rid of Sanheim, I think combining this move with the Krug signing is the way to go (especially with the expansion draft coming up). Sanheim would be a huge addition for the Jets on the blue line and, for those concerned, he has played on both sides. With the addition of Laine, we would have a bit of a jam at LW for the next few years with Laine, Lindblom, and Giroux (who will still be a 3LW for atleast 3 years). This would make it difficult for Ratcliffe to break-in with the team, and I think we would be okay without him. He would, however, be much more beneficial to Winnipeg, slotting in on the 2nd or 3rd line. Rubstov is another solid prospect who just doesn't fit in Philadelphia, but could find a role on the Jets. I think giving up a 1st round pick is definitely worth it to get this deal done, and honestly I'd be alright with giving a little more. If Ratcliffe really wasn't enough, and Winnipeg didn't want any more picks, I'd give Morgan Frost up instead. That would be a last case scenario though, because I think Frost fits in the Flyers future much more

Expansion Draft:
7 Forwards- Giroux, Couturier, Konecny, Hayes, Laine, Lindblom, Laughton
3 Defensemen- Provorov, Krug, Myers
**If we hadn't traded Sanheim this would be a major issue with the addition of Krug
1 Goalie- Hart (surprise)
Notable Exposures- Voracek, Patrick, Aubé-Kubel
Plan- Get them to take Voracek, offer a pick or something if they are inclined to take someone else

2021 Offseason:
About $30m in cap (after Voracek departure) should be enough to sign Laine, Laughton, Hart, and Raffl plus some depth

2021-2022 Lines:
Laine-Couturier-Konecny
Lindblom-Hayes-Farabee
Giroux-Frost-Patrick (either frost or patrick will definitely need to move to wing)
Raffl-Laughton-NAK

Provorov-York
Krug-Myers
Hagg/Zamula/Friedman

The proposal for Laine is kind of meh. Sanheim is real nice, but an LD so not a long term need for Winnipeg who would prefer an RD. Rubstov so far hasn't amounted to much, so I don't see him as someone the Jets would target. Ratcliffe is a winger and again not someone the Jets would target. The first is nice, but Winnipeg would want the 2020 first.

I think you are going to need a little more to get Laine, I like this a lot though, and I would like to see myers on a longer term deal, I always use 4.5 for 5 or 6, he is going to be our best d-man in a couple of years. I think you would need to add maybe another first and a prospect. MTL wouldnt want ghost they do not need a LHD, maybe a team like the kings, have no pressure to do well and willing to take a change on a former 60 point d-man to kickstart their rebuild?

I understand from a handedness standpoint, but Sanheim did play on the right with Provorov in the past. I agree about Rubtsov, but he hasn't had much of a chance (averaged like 9:00 TOI when called up). I think Ratcliffe would definitely be an asset to you guys down the line behind Connor. Totally would give the 2020 pick if the trade is made before the draft. Curious though, what more would you want?

100% want Myers on a longer deal, I just don't think we can swing it this year on a flat cap. As for the Ghost trade, I'd sent him to wherever wanted him. Kings would be a good fit.

I think the Jets would prefer Frost as opposed to Rubstov and/or Ratcliffe. I still don't know if the Jets would do it, but the value and team needs part would be more in line with what Winnipeg wants.

You will need to add another nice piece along Sanheim to get Liane, like Frost or Farabee.

Krug will likely get more money then this too.

If Laine really wants out of Winnipeg, they're gonna have to do something. If Frost is added, I don't see them getting a better deal from anybody. I would add Frost if it was necessary, honestly I don't think the Jets have the leverage in this deal.

Definitely could see Krug getting more. Other option would be to let Elliott walk and backup Hart with Lyon on a much cheaper deal.

Well there have been no reports that Laine wants out and the Jets own his rights for 3 more years. In all likelihood Laine won't be traded in the near future unless Chevy is blown away by the offer. Your offer with the Frost addition and 2020 1st is very good value though. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.
