1.
NYI
  1. 2021 2nd round pick (NYI)
2.
NYI
  1. Kessel, Phil
Additional Details:
Kessel has $6.8m cap hit (equal to the two players going to AZ). However, he is making $12m in real cash over the next two years.
I think Kessel would be rejuvenated on a line with Barzal. Barry would get every bit out of him.
ARI
  1. Bellows, Kieffer
  2. Boychuk, Johnny
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
AZ has a hard internal cap. Boychuk is only making $5.25m in real cash over the next two years ($6m cap hit each year).

AZ recoups a pick, gets a solid prospect, and saves real cash to get them to the cap floor.

Ok so, coyotes aren’t taking boychuk did Kessel lol. The stuff added on alone is a sweetener to make up for it. You’re gonna have to add more. This also isn’t a rejuvenation thing, Kessel played all season injured.

This move would only work if we turned around and traded Kessel to a third team anyways . The Islanders need the cap space not to take more on.

It's not about "taking" Boychuk. They just saved 128% off their payroll for the next two years, keeping themselves close to the cap floor, and replenishing a pick/prospect. I don't think it's that far off.

Not sure Arizona is in position to dictate down to the letter how they shed real world payroll.

And what about next year? We've got Pelech, Beau, Sorokin and Dal Colle to sign. Everyone but Dal Colle (and possibly Sorokin if he sucks) will be getting huge increases. We'll be in the exact same position as we are now. If you're looking to fill a position I think they should be a 1 year rental.

You're going to lose someone to expansion, Cizikas is off the books (prepare yourself, unless he takes something super team friendly I think he's gone), still have Leo and Hickey on the roster (can move either with 1 year left), plus $1.7m in cap space now. Not that crazy. Pretty easy to do

Unless, Barzal and Pulock demand more than what you're offering. Don't get me wrong I'd like to see them both sign for team friendly deals, but you know Barzal will eventually want his big pay day, if he doesn't already this season. And as far as Cizikas goes I can actually see him being moved this season. He'll be demanding Pageau type money something the Islanders can't afford at the present.

Bonuses are already paid. Kessel is only owed $850k more this year from the Coyotes. $5.1M next. It's not outrageous money. Bonus money this year is sunk cost; they don't get it back. Toronto is eating 15% of the contract for them.

I think if you retain a third on Boychuk, he's the kind of guy Armstrong would like to bring in, and Kessel's probably not his kind of guy. I don't think it's completely crazy, but you're also not saving Arizona $10M or whatever you're claiming. They'd be paying Boychuk at full pop more than they are paying Kessel.

It's a solid starting point, but I don't think this is a deal that gets done.
