Kuemper ask is a 1st round pick and atleast one to two more assets dont think that package gets him especially since Bill Armstrong came in he rose the price up on Kuemper

Dundon said we probably wouldn’t draft a defender or goalie in the first round. That isn’t enough to move up 4 spots.

TB will be looking to shed salary big time. They couldn’t take Dzingel unless we ate half.

I think that’s kinda a hefty price to move up for Askarov. I think it’s fairly likely he is available at 13 and if he isn’t that likely means one good forward prospects drops into the canes lap. My guess is Arizona is going to want more than a late 2nd and a B prospect as the main pieces of the Kuemper trade. I know they are getting Reimer as well who has some value but I don’t think it’s enough for them to take the deal. Tampa I’d imagine wouldn’t want to bring back any cap in the deal. They need all 4 mil of that cap space not just a mil

Lets say the Canes really want Askarov. I think a deal would probably center on the pick swap, Suzuki, and an asset to CAR.

It just doesn't make sense anyways, carolina isn't trading up for a goaltender who is projected to go at 13

We will not trade up to get a goalie. The front office is all about value and that move is the opposite if value. Kuemper is a great target, Arizona thinks they will get a 1st ++ for him, but I don't see that happening given the goalie market this offseason. The trade is very realistic to me, although it might take the NYR 2nd and I would hate to give up Tieksola. Killorn makes a lot of sense coming to CAR. We retain half on Dzingel and trade a 3rd.

I think there's a small possibility Minnesota takes him. If a Dumba to Winnipeg trade goes through that makes it more likely.

that could happen yes but then that pushes a forward to carolina and I think carolina is more likely to take a forward than goalie especially at that price. As you can see carolina doesn't need good goalies to win when they have that defense

The buzz right now is that teams are looking at Askarov as early as #5 with Ottawa’s second pick. The point is he MIGHT be there at 13, but also might not be. If he’s there at 9, and Minnesota doesn’t find the center they crave...you’ll get a similar player at 13 than you’d get at 9.

Dundon said he would rather take offense in the first you are correct. But if the Canes consider Askarov a franchise goalie, you have to pull the trigger.

I also asked for more on my house than I thought I could get. You need two sides to make a deal.

Arizona needs cash

First round goalies are just such a risk it’s pretty much 50/50 over the last 10-15 years whether you get a starter in 3 years or you get nothing. I’m fine to draft Askarov at 13 if he is there because having an early pick right now for the canes is playing with house money. I would not be in favor of giving up even more assets to move up 4 picks to get him. Especially when I would be surprised if the teams between 9-12 took a goalie

Just remember there are currently 31 teams in the league and picks 1-12 are not guaranteed to stay with their current owners. I think Askarov is going in the top 10.

if minnesota takes askarov there is a solid chance that quinn or someone around there falls to 13 which would be a steal

Sure thing, and I’d be fine with a quality forward falling to 13. Just think that you have to shoot your shot if you think Askarov is a starting goalie. If you think he’s a franchise type guy...you have to make sure you get him.

For how good Kuemper is his contract is really good , also Arizona is not that needed of cash as people has said , The Coyotes only have 40M left to pay out for 2020/2021 and there are other players the Coyotes can move out for money saving (Goligoski , Demers , Stepan , Grabner ) also Coyotes have no need for Reimer , if Kuemper gets moved then the tandem would be Raanta and Hill

I get that but I still go by my previous points. If he is there at 13 and the canes want to pick him fine. If not a really good forward prospect is there at 13 and that could fill the other position of need. If we were trading up in the draft I’m not even sure Askarov would be the guy I would want to pick. Personally from everything I’ve seen im a big fan of Lundell
