Cernak Offer Sheet

Created by: connorcieminski

Description
I've done this so many times, but here's an offer sheet for Cernak. Tampa is rather weak on the right side, but with Cirelli and Sergachev to re-sign this offseason I think there may be an offer sheet that they just can't match. As for the rest of the D, sign Dermott to a 1-year prove-it deal, keep Muzzin-Holl together, and start Lehtonen on the 3rd pair to see how he adjusts to North American ice. He's gotten off to a great start in the KHL this season, so I'm optimistic. Let Sandin and Liljegren develop one more year with the Marlies, but call one or both of them up if they earn it. As for the forwards, re-sign Mikheyev and Spezza and sign Rodriguez. Johnsson has to go to clear cap space.

I believe if a team matches an offer sheet, they aren't able to trade that player for a year. Can anyone confirm?

Tampas cap situation is way worse than the Leafs. (Granted they are about to win the cup so I doubt Tampa cares). But Tampa needs to shed like 15m. It is substantial! Go try to make a Tampa AGM. They are quite hard to pull off.

Granted Cernak is their only RHD. I feel like they will protect him at all costs.

tampa has less cap space than the leafs and has 2 big RFA's to resign (Sergechev + Cirelli). They dont got the cap space for all 3. With Kapenan gone toronto has the space to do this.

Sure tampa can match but than they go into cap hell

yep you are correct

Accept: The player remains with his current team on a contract identical to that of the offer sheet, with the exception that the current team does not have to match any clauses restricting their ability to trade or reassign the player like a "no trade clause". The team is not allowed to trade the player for one year.

Awesome, thanks! That's what I thought!
