We're not doing that Ottawa deal. Henrik at 50% is worth a late pick.

I don't understand some Rangers fan's obsession with Danault. He's close to 28 and he's never scored more than 55 points. I like his defense but he will ask for second line center money.
Which he is not.

Why buy him out?? Make the trade after NYR pay his 1 mil signing bonus. Retaining 50% costs Ottawa 2.25 mil for Lindquist and a 2nd rd pick. The only question is does Lundqvist waive to play in Ottawa????

Only thing I could see is Montreal hasn't exactly had a ton of offensive players for him to play with, could put up career numbers in new York depending on how lines shake out

I don't think he will play anywhere else. Only agrees to a trade if he knows he is getting Bought Out. No contender will want him.

Pass, Gauthier will more than likely never play on a top6 and doesn't have the skillset to be impactful on a bottom 6. The CAR pick is nice but I'm pretty sure MB isn't looking to trade Danault (even with all the rumors) and if he does, it will be for immediate help at another position. Future considerations, as good as they can be, are not in any interest for MTL.

isn't that what you want from a 2C? 50+ points, 5th in Selke voting, free up the Zibanejad line from the top line matchups

he will probably get between 5.5 and 6.5

. Danault’s line was one of the best 5v5 lines in the entire league. He’s most definitely a 2nd loner with the ability to shut down a teams top line. No way Habs give him up unless we are getting something really good

and Ottawa isnt doing that... look at what Marleau cost with a NMC to buyout last year

Lundqvist said it himself that he doesnt want to be anywhere else than Manhattan

Marc Staal was just moved for what will probably be a late 2nd in a lesser Draft class, for a Cap hit that is about $1.5M more than Lundqvist at 50%. I understand people still want to reference the Marleau dump, but Toronto got fleeced a little due to needing more Cap while being a contender.

Rangers really aren't as desperate right now. Not a true Cup contender yet. Moving Staal gave them more breathing room. And Ottawa needs moves like these to reach the Cap floor.

I think it's personally better now to Buyout Hank rather than waste another Pick to move him elsewhere. But if the opportunity arose, I would think the Senators would take more Draft assets (even if it isn't a 2nd Rounder or higher) in a dump. They have nothing to lose.

actually no they dont... if you do the math with all their RFAs re-signed, they'll be +/-2M over cap. If you include ELC performance bonuses they be at around 65M.
As for the trade itself... I wnat a 2nd minimum for half rentention in the purpose of buying out or no deal
