why is it a "Fat chance?" Bonino has one year left than he's a UFA where as Engvall has 2 and he's a RFA, so Nashville is getting the player who they have control over for a longer period of time... plus Nashville have Johanson/Duchane/Turris/Bonino/Sissons down the middle... they probably want to move out some money up the middle and there won't be any takers on Turris.

Plus, I feel like the Kuemper trade is very fair, the Coyotes are looking for picks and 2 seconds and a cheap prospect they can plug into their lineup and give a shot too seems like a fair offer.

Johnsson is locked up for 3 more years and has a 20 goal season under his belt already which this year would have been the second highest scorer on the Devils. Plus the devils get Dermott who they have control over and can offset the loss of Severson and add some balance on the left side of NJD's defense.

Really don't think Sevo is going anywhere. He's our best defenseman and on the best contract, too. I think you're low on Mikheyev, too.

Miles wood had a 19 goal season under his belt. As yourself would you take that offer i countered with.
Johnsson is a middle 6 player coming off of a big injury. dermott is a bottom pairing D.
A cost controlled #3 right Handed D on a great salary Is returning more than that.

Mickheyev had a short injury season, i think he takes a 1 year deal to see what the leafs have in him

Dermott is a bottom pair D on the leafs right side because he's playing behind Muzzin and Reilly, he's a top 4 on the devils left side who need youth in their defense. Plus miles wood isn't the type of player nor contract the leafs would even be looking at to add to their team.

It has nothing to do with wants or needs. It had to do with quality. Dermott is NOT a top four D. The proposal I gave you is pretty similar value wise to what you proposed for Severson. Of course the leafs wouldn’t make that trade.

1.439m for a no-compensation offer sheet. 2.18m for just a third round pick.

it defiantly does have lots to do with wants or needs that's the exact reason why teams make trades lol. It also comes down too where the team is in the standings, the devils aren't going to compete this year so getting younger players/prospects/picks for valuable players on their roster that will be aging out when they're ready to compete is how you rebuild properly.

And that value is nowhere close to the same, Muzzin is a better defensemen and is locked up longer term. Johnsson is a better player than Wood and Dermott is far and above better than carrick

My counter had nothing to do with wants or needs. It was a counter proposal with similar players to show you how far off they are.
Muzzin a better player? That’s debatable. Same as Johnsson. Dermott better than Carrick I’ll give you that.

it does have 100% to do with wants and needs for the team LOL. You're not taking into consideration what a team wants and needs on their team to warrant a trade being made... think of it this way,

is Pietrangelo a great player? yes.
Is he worth 8M/year? yes.
would the Leafs/Jets/Flames/Knights sign him too a contract for that much? yes.
would the Sharks/Canes/Preds sign him for that much? no, because they already have too much money tied up in their defense and wouldn't be willing to pay a player like him that much money because their WANTS and NEEDS are different than other teams...

Coming back to the point of the deal you said, why in a year where the Leafs are looking to make the playoffs trade off from a point of weakness in their defense for a forward where they're already strong enough as it is... if you made that offer to a team for instance the preds/canes i could see why they would potentially look at doing that because they're sheading cap and trading from a point of strength to fill a hole in their forward group... either of those teams i think would love to have miles wood and the contract that he is on smile

ya. I don’t think you understand the point. Of course wants and needs are important. But my counter was just being used as an example to show you how absurd the return was. It has nothing to do with wants or needs as the proposal was just matching up similar players.
