<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>etpeck</b></div><div>Yes canes fans say that because they are not going to trade him and make the team worse. Nylander is the one player the leafs can offer that could arguably make the canes better. The loss of pesce would significantly hurt the defensive group so the player coming in would have to strengthen a different area the same amount or more. Anderson does not offset the loss of pesce and Kerfoot just doesn’t fit anywhere on the canes. The canes like the leafs are a win now team so they aren’t going to make trades for futures that make the team worse in the short term</div></div>

The way I see Kerfoot is he's a versatile player who plays the same style of 2 way hockey the Canes love to play. He would fit really well on their left side as a middle six winger, as he's shown he can play in that position for a stretch in Toronto this year playing alongside Tavares. The Canes do get worse on the back end by trading Pesce I do completely agree with that but looking at their defense core especially on the right side at some point they need to give the opportunity for Fleury to step into that top 4 role. The resign TVR and he's your 3rd pair RD and how much worse is that defense really?

From the Anderson standpoint, he is a very superior upgrade on either goaltenders that the canes have and the canes have quite a bit of cap space this year and could sign Anderson to a 3-4 year contract with both of their goalies expiring next offseason.

You are right tho, I didn't fully do Pesce justice in this trade the leafs would have to offer a prospect or better pick than a 6th.

With the Nylander thing, I believe that he has more trade value than Pesce does despite Pesce playing a more coveted position. No matter how much the media talks down on Nylander, he's signed for 4 more years at under 7M and just put up 31 goals 58 points in 61 games. That's way better value than Pesce
