Initial Creation Date: Sep. 28, 2020
Published: Sep. 28, 2020

Description
This only has a chance of happening if Tampa wins the cup. They would have little need for Stamkos and would look to get rid of his cap hit to sign their younger Rfa

I don't know how this has anything to do with a cup win or not? It's Stamkos's decision 100%. Would you waive your complete NMC to leave Tampa, their wonderful tax laws, lovely weather, and dominant team (That you're the Captain of, btw), to head North?

Think its more something Tampa asks Stamkos to do if they win a cup. If they win it without him the team may ask him to waive to give the team some cap relief

I'd say that's a prettttty big long shot.

I'd say Killorn is a given, then Johnson and Gourde will likely be asked.

Cirelli is also a solid candidate. Could get back young, NHL ready players on ELC's in exchange for him to fill out the roster. They're certainly in trouble, but I don't see a world where Stamkos gets asked, and if he does, it'll be a pretty short list of where he's willing to go.

When he was a UFA he could have made 10 million plus if he changed teams. He even turned down his home town of Toronto and took less to be here. Tampa will not forget that and not do this. Sadly, I think there is more to the story of his injury. I hope watching him blow by a defender and score is not the last memory of Stammer.

I dont see it either but if you wanted to clear a lot of salary and get some premium assets back that could keep you elite further I think Stamkos would be the one to move. I mean if you wee able to get another top 10 pick and assets back it would be huge for thier future. Say buffalo offers up Cozens and 8th overall? Be hard not to at least ask Stamkos

Big doubt that the Sabres give up 8th overall and their best prospect for another right handed shot. And if they were, Laine would be a better option for them at that a price
