That's an Eric Lindros type trade that NYR would regret forever.

Considering it probably costs the Carolina 1st+one of the thirds to move Hank/Smith, it ends up being Kakko+Laf+Strome+3rd for Eichel.

Certainly enough to start a convo, but I don't think it's in either teams best interest to do this.

Look at a Three way with MTL

Mtl - Receiving Henrik #1 Draft pick and other Cap Dumps
NYR - Receiving Jack Eichel
Buff - MTL 1st 2020,21, NYR 1st 2021, Max Domi , Lias ,Poehling, Mete

Lundquist and Smith are for cap. Strome is a 2C( played like it last year) 1st is Lafranie, Carolina 1 will be a good player plus you replace some of the picks you traded and Kakko is a top 6 winger? What other quality do you want?

Why not. Buffalo gets low end salaries while they rebuild (again) Rangers take a shot with the players they have

For Buffalo, trading away one of the top players in the sport always has the chance to come back to bite you in the @ss.

For NYR, trading away one of the top prospects in the sport always has the chance to come back to bite you in the @ss. For the Rangers, in a flat cap world, all of the sudden they'll have $45 mil invested in 6 players for 2021.

Still better than the Leafs situation and it opens up cap space to extend Zab and resign DeAngelo

Why does Montreal do this? They could sign Hall for the cap dumps and not lose anything?
