If Hamilton agrees to an extension (either a gentlemen's agreement like Stone with Vegas on that deadline day, or an actual pen to paper sign and trade) then the deal could get done. However, if he doesn't show any interest in a potential re-signing then the Jets wouldn't bother.

I love this deal for the Canes, other than the consequence of having to re-sign Laine and Svechnikov in the same flat cap offseason.

True, but the might not re-sign Sami Vatean so that would open up some cap
