Well it's a yes if NY is offering Tampa (if I'm JBB), but there's no way this one happens. Elite defenseman are often long-term projects as we've seen with Hedman, but the Rangers are more in need of an instant stud like Lafreniere.

Who's to say Sergachev won't be one either? Hedman didn't become the dominant player on both sides of the ice until at least his 6th year in the league.

I do think Laf is the right choice for the Rangers' current needs though. That is simply another elite player.

I dunno which position is harder to get a true number one at and which one takes longer to develop? I think almost any team would trade a #1 center prospect for an established top pair dman who can run the power play. Sergie needs some more time for sure but he's 80% to becoming a #1 now.

I don't know if he's worth this trade but I think he's the guy Tampa has to move. With McDonagh signed long term it doesn't make sense for them to keep him. Tampa's looking to win now obviously.

I assume you're not talking about me trading Sergachev, but could you imagine a Lafreniere/Point/Kucherov line!
Not going to happen but that would be something.

Meaning what exactly? You don't think Sergie would be the #1 trade bait in the league?

Ok now you're on crack. A 22 yr old top pair dman who will likely be a norris contender for the nex 8 years. What do you think that offer sheet will look like?

I'm not the one who mentioned crack. If nobody waives their NTC, it won't have to be anything crazy.

You must me drunker than I am. It was that other clown that made the crack comment. If nobody waives we're probably screwed anyways. I'm just saying Sergie is the best freely tradeable asset with the least detriment to the team. Would you rather trade Point?

I won’t argue his value as he is awesome. He’s RD and we are overflowing there and likely moving ADA to bring Lundkvist in. Can’t move Trouba-NTC
Moving ADA for Nils
So that leaves moving Fox at <1M for 2 years... doesn’t make sense

So even if he is “Hedman like” it won’t work

Canes would take Palat. You would have to pay us something nice to take on Johnson.

If Julien BriseBois moves both Gourde and Johnson there's noway he's moving Sergachev and he sure doesn't bring back Alexi Lafreniere. Alex Killorn is 100% gone.
