Even with Lafreniere that still doesn't get you Jack Eichel.

I’d say if you switched lias to someone like lunkvist then it’s a deal

Imgine thinking Eichel for 10 million gives you a higher change of winning than Lafrenière for 925k

I’m keeping the Rangers all day... we aren’t trying to win a cup this very minute.

Geogiev has only played in 2 seasons
Miller has a nice ceiling
Lias seems to be maturing and may become useful and more valuable(currently worth nothing thanks to his attitude)
Laffy has isn’t a prospect you just toss around

Eichel is a top 10 and great 1C but I’m not sending a great future in 3+ positions to thin our depth(not saying that wouldn’t be the price just no thanks)

Of course you say yes. If you were a third party then there would be weight in your say. Typically a fair deal is when both sides say NO. Because you say yes this is precisely why it wouldn’t happen

I’m a Sabres fan. It’s a terrible trade

Deleted post because I misread that. Buffalo shouldn’t be moving jack and rangers shouldn’t be moving their pieces either..

NYR
Eichel, Jack
Hutton, Carter (retain $1,375,000)
BUF
Georgiev, Alexandar
Miller, K'Andre
Brendon Smith
2020 1st round pick (NYR)
2020 1st round pick (CAR)
Give the Rangers some cap space the Sabres take Smith.
I would hate to trade Jack but this is closer than any other trade I have seen so far.
Buffalo would throw in the towel and start all over and build around this years first, Cozens and Dahlin.

My take is Smith can be moved like Staal was.. Smith and BUF’s 3rd rounder which is high. Or even to take LTIR back from a poor team and at least they have a roster player. If Smith was 2M I would keep him because I like his physical presence and he could be a #6/7. They can keep Hutton. I want my youth. We just bought out the face of the franchise so I’d like to see us groom a new one. The last Rangers jersey I got was Hanks after his 15th or so game for NYR. Need some fresh threads if you know what I mean

Imagine thinking a prospect who has never played a minute in the nhl gives the Sabres a better chance of winning than a player who’s proven to be a superstar

I agree with you about Smith.
I took out Anderson, added Smith and a late first round pick and retained some of Hutton's salary.
IMO that is close exchange of value.
In essence I am saying a third and Anderson is about equal to Carolina's first.
Anderson was 7th overall in 2017, Carolina's 2020 pick is 22nd over all. I guess it is a toss up either way.
Do you agree?

I don't think you actually understand what I'm saying. Let's have another case - Kucherov or Filip Forsberg for 1m? I take Forsberg all day, and then I can go into free agency and get Hall or whatever.

I have no idea how Lafrenière or Byfield would stack up against Eichel - I don't have some NHLe-model available. But I do know that Jack Eichel's value doesn't match his production. He's a really good player, but he's not at the very top of the league as I believe common perception has him.

I’m sure any of the packages you make is fair, I’m not disputing it. I’m just not moving the youth. I want to go out and get a Laffy/Shesty/Miller jersey and wear it for the next 10 years. Messier, Kovalev, Leetch and Lundqvist jerseys are classic but I want a new one. I want NYR to have their “Sid the kid” or OV/McDavid/Mathews/etc. I don’t think I can make a fair evaluation for Eichel because I don’t want to acquire him for what it will cost. He would never feel the franchise guy to me, just like Bread doesn’t and he is just ridiculous but we didn’t draft and develop him and keep him for 15-20 years

This isn’t a homer opinion, but Jack is a top-5 center in the NHL. He’s basically remained a secret to the league because he’s stuck with a horribly run franchise, but he is most definitely elite. Lafreniere will most likely be great, but that’s not where this franchise is going. They’re trying to build a winner around Jack. He’s their best chance at winning.

You're describing Elias Petterson who's literally dragging the 'nucks into the playoffs by their ankles regardless of their GM. Eichel isn't doing that. McDavid is better. Crosby is better. Matthews and Bergeron are better. Point, Barkov, Malkin, Draisaitl and Tavares are all probably better. Eichel is good, but I don't even think he's even better than ROR tbh.

Well, that’s just completely ridiculous. ROR and Malkin being on this list is laughable. You need to educate yourself. Jack Eichel is an elite level superstar and it’s not even debatable.

Also, Vancouver’s lineup is so much deeper than Buffalo’s.

Yeah I guess I'm disproven by *checks notes* my need of education? I'm sorry but you're not even fit to have this discussion apparently.

Says the guy who thinks Malkin is still playing at a level higher than Eichel. You need to start taking better notes. Please! Do me a favor and don’t have this discussion with me. You’re a waste of my time.

I'm not carving anything into stone; I'd be open to lowering my opinion of Malkin - we're further off him being as absolutely dominant he has been. But it's a discussion to have, for sure.

I said you weren't fit to have the discussion because your arguments were "thats ridiculous", "thats laughable", "educate yourself" and "Eichel is a superstar". Those are 4 conclusions without a single premise.

Vancouver isn't that much deeper. Hughes for Dahlin, Reinhart for Boeser, Skinner is probably better than Horvat and Miller...
