Like the thought. Even have the cap to bring back one of Ghost or JVR if those trades don't happen.

I think Ghost 100% gets traded, JVR is going to be the tough one. He doesn't really have a roster spot either (above)

Couple of things to unpack here:

I love the idea of Giroux and Ryan not only playing on the third line where they belong but playing with Frost. Frost will need the two veterans to help him.
The problem I see is that Im not sure or convinced Lindblom is a first line player and that Voracek is a good fit with those two. But I guess that's what training camp and exhibition games will tell the coaching staff

Myers, I believe will be signed for a higher amount as will Gudas

are you convinced that Gudas and Haag are our third pair? Im not. But if you are thinking ahead to expansion then I understand. Because I would like to sign a RD that's a either first or second pairing and have Niskanen play as a third pairing with Zamula with Haag as the extra defenseman. Of course that means the risk of losing the newly signed player or losing either Sanhiem or Myers

Thank you for putting Laughton on the 4th line. I do believe that might turn out to be the best 4th line in hockey. But, do you think Laughton is better at LW?

I don't think Patrick ever plays again

I do think you nailed this line-up. Good job!

    Lots to respond to lol...

I think Lindblom with Coots makes that line an even better shut down line as Lindblom is an excellent 2 way player. Jake could be swapped with TK, doesn't really matter.

If we can lock up Myers for 6+ years, I will gladly pay him more but I used the Sanheim bridge as a comparison for the Myers bridge. If this is our cap space we can pay Gudas more but I don't know how many teams are willing to pay a 30 year old fringe 2nd pairing D man with a flat cap for the next few years. He might take a discount to come back to Philly. I'm not sure Zamula is ready yet. An AHL season would have been great for him but since they aren't going to play who knows what happens with him.

Laughton is perfectly fine as a centre if he is on the 4th line imo. He is dominant in the faceoff circle and has enough speed to stay well positioned.

I think Patrick definitely plays again. Maybe doesn't start the year or play next year but some doctor somewhere will figure something out for him.

OTT just got rid of a 2 year 7.25 mill contract they are NOT taking on a 3 year 7m contract without serious sweeteners added and 2nd and 4th not enough.

OTT needs to get to the cap floor somehow and JVR is still a decent middle 6 forward. I have a feeling OTT and Ryan talked and mutually agreed to give Ryan a shot somewhere else.

I think Ryan would likely take close to 900k in Philly.

I think you have to take back at least some cap space in the Ottawa trade. One idea I've thought about that would make sense is them sending back a retained Anisimov.

Lots of sources have suggested Myers will not make as much as Sanheim on his next deal, and when you think about his draft pedigree, point production and games played it makes sense. Expect Myers to make somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-2.5 AAV.

My only big gripe with all of this is Gudas coming back. I think if their goal is to bring in a cheap bottom pair RHD on a brief deal I'd rather them go after DeMelo or Rutta than bringing back Gudas. They actually even have enough money to take a swing at one of Barrie, Tanev, or Vatanen if Fletcher is impressed with one of them enough.

Other than all of that, I actually think this is a pretty realistic lineup that would be an improvement over last season, well done

I just think Gudas would be a very solid 3rd pairing D man. He was actually good his last couple years in Philly prior to the trade. Plus i'm fairly certain he was very well liked in the room. I'd rather the devil we know than chancing Barrie or one of those other guys.

better to sign 1 UFA for 7+m for 1 year than make a trade for a rapidly declining player with 3 years left at 7M

Rapidly declining? He was on pace for 24 goals again this year as well as on pace for 50 pts and that is without having a top 6 role.

Like the idea of adding Bobby Ryan but can't get behind bringing back Radko Gudas. He doesn't fit AV's system and I'd rather roll the dice with Friedman as the 6th defensemen.

I suggest you go look at the odds of those picks becoming NHLers who actually play more than 300 games. The stats are easy to find.
