Description
Whether the offer sheet is 4 or 5 years, has to be 6.5 cause the rangers don’t have a 2nd next year anymore due to staal trade, yes he probably has similar offers from teams but I don’t believe Tampa can afford that plus cirelli and cernak, etc. Maybe sergachev is enticed to join an up and coming team with other Russians, and a very young core.

In terms of the blues trade, I was just spitballing. Buch is definitely the best player in the trade, but the rangers get that physical presence they’ve been lacking with a pretty young fourth line. They get that with barbashev and blais while giving up an extra 3rd and buch who is an extra commodity with all the extra wingers they have. It’s between him and kreider and kreider is just more valuable to the team with a new lack of veterans with playoff experience. Luckily with these trades the rangers add three Stanley cup winners

Wennberg is the perfect fit for the 2c role this year, a 3 year deal makes sense if they can get him for 3m, allows time for Chytil to actually develop in a 3rd line center role and if he does quicker wennberg is a good 3c.

Only a one year prove it deal for deangelo, makes sense with lhd set and lundkvist coming over next year.

I just did that since they have two and wasn’t sure how blues fans value blais and barbashev

The OS won’t happen. We make more deals with TB then any other team. That will need to be civil and likely not at all. Someone else might. Serg would be nice to have!

These signings are really low.

Sergachev isn't leaving Tampa for an extra 1M.
Once you take into account state taxes and living expenses he'd make more just staying in Tampa...

If you gave him 6.5M on a 1 year deal maybe he considers but in this case he makes less and gets locked down for more years of his prime. Doesn’t make sense for him...

The thing is if he signs an offer sheet he can’t be traded at that point. Just figured Tampa would want more than a 1st and 3rd for him and this way the rangers don’t have to give up as much

Yeah the only reason I didn’t give more is in the description. Since rangers traded next years second with staal it limits their options with offer sheets. I was thinking more the werenski and mccavoy deals .. maybe the two year would work

Tampa would match that price for Sergachev. He's higher priority.

Cirelli at the same price, probably not.

Am I the only person resin here that noticed you signed wennberg for 3x3m and made him your 2C?

What, he had a very good start to his career, and then bottomed out for three years. He had a great playoffs and has always been a positive possession player. He could use some help on face offs but he’s a much cheaper and longer term option that Strome or any 2c the rangers go after, albeit he may not be or become as good. Playing in between Panarin and kravtsov would definitely help his production. If you think he’d sign cheaper for three years I’d do it, I just figured that’s what he would cost for that term. Rangers can afford it for three years, just when lafreniere and Miller are up, they will need that cap

Ever since he took that bad hit he hasn’t been the same. There is a reason cbj will most likely buy him out and it isn’t because they are in cap trouble. I can’t see anyone giving him that much based on his production.

I get that he would certainly produce next to panarin. But if you put someone he doesn’t have to carry they would both produce more.
