Okay maybe this is also a bit of what I want to see....

I think Jets have Samberg slotted as 2LD, Hamonic imo is almost 100% going to sign with the Jets. Haula at 2C is a stopgap for Perfetti. THe jets really need to do something with Laine, they need a culture change but I don't see that happening lol. I went for a more realistic route and signed Haula to stopgap 2C until the issue can be solved long-term. Not sure if the Jets want to take that route, but they could go after Cirelli as an RFA.

I have an interesting view on the 2020 draft. Seems like Dorion is playing a lot of mind games with people, throwing names out there. I honestly have no idea what is going to happen with the Ottawa and Detroit picks. I have my top 10 as:

1. Lafreniere
2. Stutzle
3. Byfield
4. Raymondi?????? (him or Perfetti)
5. Sanderson??? (imo it's raymond if available or a complete off the board pick like Askarov or Sanderson)
6. Drysdale
7. Raymond
8. Holtz (BUF has Eichel, Cozens and Mittelstadt at C, need wingers for Jack.)
9. Rossi (I'm sure MIN would have to pick Rossi or Perfetti)
10. Perfetti (slam dunk pick for the Jets imo)

I think that Perfetti could go 4 to DET, then raymond goes 5 to OTT and sanderson likely falls to 10 for the jets.

I like this take. and even with that 4.3M in cap space along with perreault being a pending UFA, you could finally give Laine a long-term contract if he performs well

Thats what I was aiming for. Let some younger players gain some experience while improving the team. Tried being realistic as well. Honestly the draft is the hardest thing to predict.

Lundell would be such a good fit for this team too though...

100% agree, I just think if Perfetti is there. He's the right pick, such high hockey IQ, perfect player for Laine long-term. He might get picked earlier than this though, in which case they have to choose between Lundell and Sanderson. Sanderson would be hard to pass on. I think he'll be a better version of Morrissey, Lundell would be very nice too.

Perfetti with Laine gets me going, he is the perfect player for Laine. He likely needs 1-2 years to develop, but until then you have haula playing with them.

Even the thought of dealing Laine is stupid. The guy scored 44 playing on the second line 2 years ago and had a better shooting percentage than Alex Ovechkin that year.

Based on what Chevy said earlier today... I have feeling Laine is gone within the next week. When he was asked about trading Laine he just said”well we’re looking to trade a bunch of different players” he didn’t deny trading Laine, and if your not trading someone he would’ve said it there.

You just need to look at his career stats to realize how dumb it would be to deal him. When was the last time a 22 year old that's scored 138 goals in 247 games been traded? I just don't get why they'd be in a rush to move him, unless something serious happened which I haven't heard of. The narrative that he's a one trick pony is so old as well, his 2-way game is getting way way better every year. I think IF you give him 2 solid years to round out his complete game while scoring, then put him with perfetti and Ehlers, you'll have that line pushing hard to be the first line. Laine will score 40 goals in his sleep with perfetti.

This is upsetting, rushing a Laine trade is crazy, unless it's at the draft and its to get the 3OA or something crazy. Like, we've been through trading Hawerchuk and Selanne. It's going to happen again and we're going to see Laine scoring 45+ goals a year. I think if Laine gets moved, and it's not a ridiculous overpay, people will be calling for Chevy's head. Chevy could also just be doing his job, nothing wrong with taking calls on Laine. I just hate the thought of moving Laine.

I’m going to wait to see what we get in return before I fully judge Chevy. Quite honestly i see why he’s being dangled as a trade piece, but the thought of him playing under a competent coach who knows what to do with him scares me. I think if Laine tears it up on a new team next year it only shows more how we need to go in a different direction then PoMo, too many problems with players playing worse out of nowhere. I can’t believe Gallant is still there, he would know what to do with our team.

Here you go man

It’s seems like it’s taken out of context a little bit, but still, if you aren’t trading someone like Laine you deny it right away

100% agree gallant would be the fight coach. We need a culture change in wpg. Wheeler runs the show. Need a coach with 0 loyalties

Couldn’t agree more. Like yes our defenceman are not good, we need a huge upgrade there, but for the most part it’s the WHOLE team was a nightmare defensively, and that is on the coach. For example, look at the star Gallant helped Theodore turn into

Yeah I know man, I wish they’d have just not extended Maurice. I know he’s a great players coach, good at getting the guys going in the moment and a good teacher. The Jets need a coach that’ll take over and have no loyalties. They need a complete systems change.

Even if Laine is traded for a good return idk if it'll be worth it, like trading your biggest star just seems like something you'll regret.

This stinks of a desperation move by a GM that's left a lineup full of holes and now he's trying to fill them by trading Laine, that or there's some internal stuff going on, maybe Laine just doesn't want to be a Jet but with all the drama that's surrounded this team the last few years ya gotta wonder if it's just that, could be but I'm skeptical knowing how Maurice plays favourites and the stuff I've been told about Wheeler.

Agree with all of this

I listen daily to AM 1290 TSN radio and every show from the morning crew to the afternoon guys all have basically been reading Laine's obituary so to speak of his time as a Jet and the majority of them have pretty much been tearing him down more then anything, maybe they've been given their marching orders...
