Sergachev and Demko

Description
Get mad.

Poor idea I fleshed out, was just gonna do Demko but why not also sergachev.

Demko probably gets moved this year or next if Markstrom is resigned which according to Friedman is Bennings no. 1 priority, if he is put on the trading block this year then he automatically becomes the best goalie on the block imo.

Habs own Chicago’s 3rd that we would need for the offer sheet but if we could offer a 3rd this year cause of the deeper draft or a later year plus another pick or Kampf then Bowman could probably get it back.

Bowman would probably never do this but maybe he’s had some time to self reflect during quarantine and has decided to just do everything in this offseason.

Selling way low on Kampf (he's worth a 3rd defensively amazing 4C) and there is no reason we should be selling him. Thatcher isn't worth both Murphy and the #17OA, I wouldn't give up the #17OA for him let alone including murphy

I actually really like most of these moves. The team looks a lot better besides Seabrook

    Demko trade is overpayment though

I guess I way overvalued Demko but I adjusted it for a second plus Murphy which now thinking more about it seems like fair value to me and fills needs for each team.

I’ve just always been low on him and I know I’ve traded him for a fifth on here before and people have said he’s not worth it so idk what to say. That being said I think bowman’s high on him and probably won’t move him, I just did cause I like Carpenter and Highmore more.

I would also say that Kubalik's deal needs to be longer or shorter. That deal takes him to UFA I believe

Because we don’t know where that 2021 3rd rounder will be, he might trade it, maybe not. No need to trade it right now

Vancouver declines. We'd rather keep Tanev then trade for Murphy and Demko is not going anywhere right now.

Lmao why would Detroit be the only place he goes DiehardRedWingsFan58?

Oh and also maybe he’d want shorter term (3 years to resign when the cap goes up) but he’s not getting that money or 1st pair minutes in Tampa

I partly agree that Demko won’t go anywhere rn but he’ll be moved at some point if Markstrom is resigned and so whether it’s now or in a year he’ll get moved and that’s likely the return. If he’s moved next year (cause his contracts up and you’ll be needing every dollar you can get for Petterson and Hughes) the hawks stick with crow for a year and then bring in Demko to be the starter rather than the backup for a year.
tl;dr - Demkos traded eventually with a similar return

If you can’t keep Tanev cause he asks for money you don’t have then Murphy should look pretty enticing, especially if the hawks can retain salary.

Hence the extra asset you’re receiving. I think the only way Bergevin doesn’t do this is if he’s trying to offer sheet Sergachev and doesn’t want to compete with the hawks.

Vancouver can't afford to resign Markstrom. He's more than likely going to free agency. If we do resign him, we have a year to move Demko before the expansion draft. If Van cant resign Tanev then we can't take on murphy's contract either. Lots of D in free agency too. Don't need to trade for Murphy. He's not a top 4 guy on a good team.

I was about to make it a 3rd when I originally did this trade but seeing that Marc Staal only fetched a 2nd for a far worse contract I don’t see how Detroit gets a 3rd.

See if I was Jim Benning I’d keep Toffoli and Tanev and let Markstrom walk, Jim Benning however is an entirely different person who according to Friedman has resigning Markstrom as his no. 1 priority. If Murphy doesn’t work the value still does and it can either become a 3 way trade with someone like TOR who needs a RHD desperately or another piece is moved.
And once again this year or next you’ll get a similar return on Demko. Maybe you’d get another 3rd if you waited but why not let DiPietro get NHL minutes if he’s finally ready (which Benning has thought he is for two years considering he inexplicably gets lit up from time to time when he gets put in an NHL game).

Murphy gives me flashbacks of Gudbranson. I'd hate to see it but we'll see.
