Points aren't everything. Age and cost certainty are the biggest factors for me Konecny is younger is currently making less money and Gaudreau is up for a BIG pay day in two years had similar years this year and it looks like Konecny is only going to get better sure Gaudreau might be worth more but the difference isn't frost or a 1st. If a Konecny for Gaudreau trade was done sure at this point in time it would look like a steal for the Flyers but in a coupe years it could look idiotic

You are right, points aren't everything, if it weren't for his age and contract we'd want more than just him and Frost.

Frankly Johnny Gaudreau during this flat cap area should be a goldmine for Calgary if they trade him, because we don't need to. Career point per game player in his prime, making under 7 million? That is unheard of. I would rather not he be moved at all, but the type of deal I think would be acceptable would be to Buffalo for pick #8, a 2nd next year and one of Risto or Reinhart. Anything less and I'd rather keep Gaudreau.

Agree to disagree then. I think Ghost is a toxic asset and for someone who was harping that age and cost is huge for Konecny vs Gaudreau. You seem to turn a blind eye to the age and cost of Vorachek quite easily.

Gaudreau has 2 years left while Konecny has 5 years. Gaudreau is going to make more money on his next contract than Voracek is currently making. IMO there is less of a difference in a nhl player from 31-27 than 27-23. Voracek makes a lot of money you're absolutely but he's still producing at a top 6 rate and was the Flyers best forward in the playoffs like I said besides Gaudreau's 99 point season they've produced very similarly Gaudreau's point totals over the last 5 years are 78,61,84,99,58 Voracek's are 55,61,85,66,56. I understand not wanting to take on the Voracek contract but money needs to be going back to Calgary if a trade were to happen I don't think both Ghost and Voracek would be going but I could see one of them being packaged with frost and a pick

What about from 31-35 which is where we are talking about Vorachek now vs Gaudreau. Unless you are a team that is contending which the Flames are not you don't add a player like Vorachek who is on the downswing of his career as a forward and is on a contract that will not be worth it for the remainder of his career. If we were a contending team this might be a different trade to take in because at least we get future value for Gaudreau with Frost and the pick, but unfortunately we are not, and since we're not you don't look to take on an aging player not worth their contract for a 27 year old still in their prime.

I think instead of talking about having to take money back we should just be talking about why this trade shouldn't even be being talked about in the first place because of how well it fits for the Flyers and how it doesn't fit at all for the Flames.
