Banking on his best players to bounce back and stay healthy, not a terrible bet to make when they own their first

Someone else should be in charge of player negotiations. Doug routinely is fantastic at making trades, but every big contract he signs is outrageous.

I haven’t seen anything on Patty/Joe, are you certain they resigned?

And I would almost guarantee Thornton is back, he just probably won't sign his contract until a week before training camp though.

I guess Wilson will never let go of the Patty/Joe era... aka digging his head in the sand

Well I mean I thought 3.5 million was fair, but 4.725 is ridiculous, especially given he had a down year

Both are going to sign for league min so it really doesn't matter, especially since Thornton is still an effective player.

Labancs comparables are 2.5-3.5, nothing near 4.72

I mean, I wouldn’t call a dude who has trouble skating an « effective player » unless he plays 4th line and we all know it’s not happening...

You have to take the huge discount from last year into consideration. There was surely some kind of agreement between the two camps, which explains the inflated contract.

maybe, but it was sort of a "prove it" contract and it's pretty much 4 million per year on a 5 year deal if you take last contract into consideration

After a 40 pts season and a 56 pts season, it's not really a prove it. It's a huge favor in order to contend.

Dude with how this year has been going, I'd expect the Sharks to finish dead last next year only to end up picking 9th overall.
