How can you say the De Haan trade was bad? We got him for virtually free. And I will defend the Saad trade to an extent. A big part of the trade was the premise that Forsberg could continue to improve off of his stellar Calder Cup winning season and be the goalie of the future for the Hawks while Panarin was going to be unaffordable in 2 years. Unfortunately, goalies are hard to predict and he didnt pan out.

Is de haan worth 4.5 mill? maybe there's a reason you got him for nothing

The rationale for the Panarin trade was that Toews wanted his guy back. I also don't think it's stellar asset management to trade an elite player for a top 9 forward and a big maybe goaltending prospect
