Hahaha if they are too strapped for cap space to pay Lindholm (aka a good player) why on Earth would they ever take Phaneuf? Even if the 1st turns into a lottery pick and Englund develops into a solid NHL player, they still lose that deal.

Hmm, trading Phaneuf and getting Lindholm, OMG sign me up! The best part about this trade is that the Ducks don't actually have the cap room (aside from Despres 3.7M on LTIR) to take on salary. I mean, at least put some realistic thought into it, but I guess realism was lost when Phaneuf was the center piece going to ANA.

So who would you rather have, Lindholm at between $5.1MM and $5.8MM (which they can't afford without a trade), or Phaneuf at $6MM ($7MM minus $1MM retained) which they can't afford without a trade, and they have made it clear they don't want prospects or picks?

Phaneuf is not going to Anaheim for Lindholm regardless of the other pieces.
