Looks good, Florida might want a better defensive prospect but solid

I do think this will set our defense onto the correct path. Would still need Seabs to waive his NMC against Seattle Expansion. Heck...I'd extend him for a 1 year $800k deal for him to waive that too if that what it comes down to. I'd personally keep Weeger on LD because Murphy isn't as good at the Left side vs Right side. It's a good out of the box idea.

Carlsson is supposed to be pretty good, could be in the NHL next year probably. I'd be willing to do Strome for Weegar 1 for 1 but I just wanted to add a little something. If Borgstrom is someone you think Florida values more highly, you could drop the prospect swap aspect of this trade entirely honestly.

It's my understanding he can play both sides. I'd be fine with him on either side -- maybe swap him with Murphy and move the Weegar-Mitchell pair up in the lineup idk.

Oh man, I kinda forgot about that. Would have to think he would waive, but you never really know I guess. Hopefully he waives and they just give him their word not to trade him, if that's what he really wants.

As for Weegar, yeah, keeping him on the left side is fine. You could figure out the pairs later on, but play him (and everyone) where they're most comfortable/effective.

Unless Zito feels Borgstrom is a flop I’d take him out and do a 1 for 1

Perhaps, no. I really like having three really strong centers down the middle (Toews, Dach, Strome) and I think that's part of the reason why we were so strong offensively last year. But, we do have guys coming up - Barratt still looks good and Kurashev and Suter can both play center. I really like Wallmark and am hoping he could be a long term 2-way option at 3C, although we have a while to see if that's what might actually happen. I like Strome a lot, would rather not trade him, but for the right price I think you have to consider it

Take the legit strength down the middle over the top 4 dman all day every day, Toews is getting older, Hawks have lots of D in the pipeline, I'd never make this deal if I was the Hawks GM.
