That Byron contract is going no where without serious compensation going with him. Three more seasons at 3.4 ... ? He will be in Montreal next season.

True.. I could add one or two Prospects in there also. NJ Would profit from a guy like him in their lineup, and they have cap space.

Cap space too valuable right now ... I suspect better opportunities out there, if not now, next year (Though Seattle may help loosen some things up). Whatever NJ would ask for, it would hurt too much imo.

There are only 4-5 teams with any viable space now. They know it & will be difficult to deal with. My bet is that NJ's space is allocated to Lamoriello maybe for Boychuk, one (if not both) of the 2nd rounders acquired for Towes & a decent prospect. The squeeze is on throughout the league. Too few parachutes for all the bad deals.

My point of view = NJD does not want Byron at all. Habs should buy him out.
